Alabama State University’s College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences will host its Distinguished Lecture Series on March 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ralph D. Abernathy auditorium. This year's speaker, Kwoya Fagin Maples, will share her motivation to write her most recent poetry collection, Mend. Mend tells the story of the birth of obstetrics and gynecology in America and the role black enslaved women played in that process.
