Tougaloo College honors the impact and the legacies of a former professor and a significant era in Mississippi's history with the establishment of the Dr. Ernst Borinski and Mississippi Civil Rights Movement Endowed Chair. Many Mississippians who were participants in this great civil and social activism and justice movement found a "safe haven" within Tougaloo's Gate.
