About May Day Bags

United Way of Horry County is partnering with United Community Bank this year on our May Day Bag program. Mobile Meals of the Grand Strand and Horry County Council on Aging will be delivering 1,000 May Day Bags to Horry County homebound seniors. These bags will be filled with useful and necessary hygiene items. United Way of Horry County will be wearing the proper personal protection equipment to fill the bags with toiletries, small gifts, etc. to brighten a senior’s day. The bags will also include a letter from a local kindergartner as their way of paying it forward from United Way and CCU’s Caring for Kindergartners program.

In the past, United Way of Horry County has collected items for our May Day Bag Program. Due to COVID-19 health and safety regulations, we ask that you consider donating $26 to fill one May Day bag for a local homebound senior.

$26 will provide the following items in one May Day bag:

  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Shampoo
  • Soap/Body Wash
  • Tissues
  • Lotion/Powder
  • Stationary/Pens
  • Crossword Puzzles
  • First Aid Kit
  • Chapstick
  • Night Light
  • Socks
  • Cloth Face Covering
  • Hand Sanitizer

1000 bags are purchased and filled by United Way of Horry County. Then, these bags are distributed by Mobile Meals of the Grand Strand and Horry County Council on Aging.
