Lyme and other tick-borne diseases are a significant public health concern in New York, as evidenced by the steady rise in the number of human cases.

To better understand the impact of climate, environmental and human factors influencing the emergence/spread of Lyme and other tick-borne diseases in New York, the Thangamani Lab has engaged with the public to conduct a state-wide Citizen science tick surveillance program.

Under the program, the lab offers free tick testing for 16 different tick-borne disease agents, including the Lyme disease agent. As of December 2022, the lab has tested 32,000 ticks encountered by humans and helped the public to seek expedited health care solutions. The results of the tick testing are reported in real-time through an interactive tickMAP

The purpose of this fund is to support the free tick testing and research on Lyme & other tick-borne diseases. Donate below to help support this free program.
