We are proud of MTSU’s rich history in teacher education and the many contributions our graduates have made to young people over the past 110 years. Today, preparing future teachers, counselors, and school administrators is still central to our mission.
You can support that mission by giving to:
• Tennessee Teach Back Initiative (TTBI) - Scholarships for high school and community college students from rural and underserved Tennessee communities to earn an initial teaching license at MTSU. After completing their coursework at MTSU, these students will return to their sponsoring districts to begin a teaching career, ultimately giving back to their communities.
• Center for Fairness, Justice, and Equity in Education – Help the Center intentionally recruit diverse faculty, teacher candidates, and educational personnel from a multitude of racial, ethnic, gender identity and expression, socio-economic, sexual identity, learning ability, and mental health backgrounds. Increased diversity yields increased creativity, new insights, new perspectives, and innovative skills, for the benefit of all.
• Cornelia Freeman Cooper Endowed Scholarship – In honor of Cornelia Cooper’s Golden Raider anniversary, support scholarships for underrepresented student populations pursuing a degree in Education.
• ASPIRE Grant - Emergency fund for students in financial distress during their residency year.
• College of Education Scholarship – Scholarship support for students who have been accepted to the teacher education program.
• Department of Elementary and Special Education – Exceptional elementary and special education teachers are needed throughout the state of Tennessee and across the country. Your gift will support the department’s most pressing needs.
• Olivia Woods Scholarship - In honor of the first African American student to graduate from MTSU. Scholarship support for underrepresented student populations.
• Secondary Education Scholarship – Support future middle and high school teachers.
