The Baldwin Photographic Gallery provides access to inspiring photographic works for the students and faculty of Middle Tennessee State University as well as the general public. The Baldwin Photographic Gallery has a long tradition of exhibiting photographic works of national and international stature, and brings exhibiting artists to MTSU to conduct workshops and lectures.
The gallery was founded in 1964 by Professor Harold Baldwin. He served as curator of the gallery and Professor of Photography until his retirement in 1991. The gallery was formally named for Mr. Baldwin in 1996. A new gallery space opened in January 2014.
Professor Baldwin also established a permanent collection of prints of exhibiting artists. The Baldwin Photographic Collection includes the works of notable artists such as Ansel Adams, Minor White, and Jerry Uelsmann.
Professor of Photography, Tom Jimison served as curator of the Baldwin Photographic Gallery and Collection from 1991 to 2017.
Associate Professor of Photography, Jackie Kerns Heigle assumed curatorship of the Baldwin Photographic Gallery in 2017.
