Join us for an inclusive and vibrant Queer Jews of Color Shabbat on Friday, February 9th at 7 pm, hosted by JQ International in partnership with Open Temple, The Lunar Collective, Jewtina y Co, Jewbian Princess, Be’Chol Lashon and more.

Embrace the intersectionality of our community with inclusive Shabbat rituals, a delicious dinner, and community conversations. This collaborative event is an opportunity to connect, share experiences, and celebrate the richness of our identities. We are excited to host an uplifting celebration of Queer Jews of Color & their allies dedicated to honoring and embracing the diverse identities within our community. This gathering is a platform to recognize and celebrate the unique experiences, perspectives, and contributions of queer individuals who identify as Jews of Color. Per the Jews of Color Initiative, “‘Jews of Color’ is a broad term that refers to Jews who are People of Color of many racial, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. There is no single definition of Jews of Color, and the concept itself is still evolving.” The term “Jews of Color'' includes (but is not limited to) Jews who identify as Black, African-American, Native, Asian, Latine, Mizrakhi, Sephardic, and more.

We also extend a warm invitation to all allies who share in our commitment to inclusivity, understanding, and unity. Your presence as an ally is not only welcomed but crucial in creating a space where diversity is celebrated, and everyone can feel seen, heard, and valued. Together, let's build bridges of support, love, and understanding within our beautifully diverse community.

Tickets are available for purchase up until 10pm, on Thursday, February 8th. No tickets will be sold at the door. The exact address will be provided upon ticket purchase.

Accessibility Statement:
There are a few stairs to enter the area where we will be celebrating Shabbat. There are a few breaks in the pavement when accessing the outdoor dinner areas. Please let us know if this is a concern. As well, a security guard will be present. There will be dim lighting, candlelight, and soft  music playing throughout the evening. No microphones or amplified sound will be used for speakers. Name tags will be offered and guests will be encouraged to participate in optional ice breaker games to interact with others. Food will be served buffet style. Street parking and metered parking is available. Refund Policy
Ticket purchases to JQ events are non-refundable, but a credit may be applied towards a future event per JQ's discretion on a case by case basis. Transfer of a purchased ticket to another guest may also be granted. Please reach out to Jona Yadidi at least 5 days before the ticketed event to request a credit or transfer. 

Financial Assistance
JQ wants to ensure that this event is accessible for all, including those with financial barriers. This may include discounted tickets, scholarships, and/or volunteer opportunities. No one will be turned away.

With full knowledge of the risks involved, I release, waive, and discharge JQ International from any liabilities, claims, demands, actions, and causes of action whatsoever, directly or indirectly arising out of or related to any loss, damage, injury, or death, that may be sustained while participating in any activity while in, on, or around the premises or while using the facilities that may lead to unintentional exposure or harm due to a communicable virus. I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless JQ International from and against any costs, expenses, damages, lawsuits, and/or liabilities or claims arising whether directly or indirectly from or related to any claims made by or against any of the released party due to injury, loss, or death from or related to any communicable virus.

These are the values and principles that we are committed to as an organization and as we convene in-person and virtually for community programming, education, and support services. The following is an outline of the policies and norms that are part of JQ International’s culture. We value each and every individual who joins our community and we look forward to learning, supporting, and celebrating together with these norms in place. Thank you for helping create safe, respectful, and equitable spaces. 

Jewish tradition recognizes that every person is created in the divine image and should be treated as such. Furthermore the Jewish values of repairing the world, mutual responsibility, and not standing idly by while others are being harmed are fundamental to the creation, implementation, and upholding of this Code of Conduct. 

JQ International is committed to creating a harassment-free environment for all participants in our programs, including, staff, speakers, vendors, and volunteers. Harassment as outlined below is considered by JQ International to be a serious form of misconduct. 

This Code of Conduct is established in order to promote safety and respect in all of our activities. We expect all participants at JQ International activities to abide by this policy in all venues, including ancillary events and unofficial social gatherings: 

• Exercise consideration and respect in your speech and actions 

• Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech 

• Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants 

• Alert leadership if you notice a dangerous situation, someone in distress, or violations of this policy, even if they seem minor (see more details below) 

The following behaviors do not belong at JQ International 

• Harassment that discriminates against a specific group of people based on age, race, sex, ethnicity, national origin, religion, language, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, disability, health conditions, socioeconomic status, marital status, domestic status, and/or parental status (hereafter, simply referred to as “harassment”) 

• Sexual harassment of any kind, including unwelcome sexual attention and inappropriate physical or verbal contact 

• Abuse of power (including abuses related to position, wealth, race or gender) 

• Yelling at, threatening, or bullying speakers, staff, or attendees 

• Any significantly disruptive conduct 

• Repeated interruption of a speaker or performance 

• Actual, threatened, or implied retaliation against a person for complaining about a violation of these policies or for cooperating with an investigation into a complaint
