TimTum Purim Shabbat

Join JQ for a special TimTum Shabbat Purim core-edition, for transgender, nonbinary, and gender questioning individuals in Echo Park. Come dressed in your preferred aesthetic and gather with other queer Jews and allies for a delicious Shabbat dinner, drinks, conversation, and connection on Friday, March 3rd from 7:30pm - 10:30pm at a private residential home.

Aesthetic cores refer to the visual, sensory, and emotional elements that define a particular style, design, or art form. When it comes to fashion, aesthetic cores can include:

Classic: characterized by timeless, traditional styles and neutral colors.
Streetwear: characterized by bold graphics, oversized silhouettes, and an urban edge.
Minimalist: characterized by clean lines, simple shapes, and a focus on functionality.
Bohemian: characterized by flowy fabrics, earthy colors, and eclectic patterns.
Preppy: characterized by traditional, polished styles and a preppy, Ivy League aesthetic.
Glamorous: characterized by luxurious materials, bold colors, and a focus on opulence and excess.
Retro: characterized by vintage-inspired styles and a throwback aesthetic.
Sportswear: characterized by technical fabrics, functional designs, and a sporty aesthetic.
Street Chic: characterized by a blend of streetwear and high-fashion styles
Genderless: characterized by a focus on androgynous, unisex styles and breaking down traditional gender norms.
Cottage: characterized by a pastoral, rural aesthetic with a focus on natural materials, vintage elements.
Goth: characterized by a darker aesthetic and occult or supernatural elements.

Tickets are available for purchase up until 10pm, on Thursday, March 2nd. No tickets will be sold at the door. The exact address will be provided upon ticket purchase. For community safety, please do not share the location with anyone else unless they have registered for the event.

Tim Tum events are geared towards the transgender and nonbinary/ gender queer community. Although JQ welcomes all genders and sexual orientations to all of our events, we ask that you please be mindful that this particular event is meant to be a safe space for a specific identity group, and all those wanting to attend outside of that group should consider reaching out to JQ first before purchasing a ticket. Accessibility Guide
This event will take place indoors in a private home with 3-5 small steps to enter and walking on uneven ground. A security guard will be present. There will be dim lighting, candlelight, and soft music playing throughout the evening. A speaker will be used to amplify sound. Name tags will be offered and guests will be encouraged to participate in optional ice breaker games to interact with others. Food will be served buffet style with servers. The property is built on a steep hill and street parking is available. JQ International is committed to creating a harassment-free environment for all participants in our programs, including, staff, speakers, vendors, and volunteers. Harassment as outlined below is considered by JQ International to be a serious form of misconduct. 

This Code of Conduct is established in order to promote safety and respect in all of our activities. We expect all participants at JQ International activities to abide by this policy in all venues, including ancillary events and unofficial social gatherings: 

  • Exercise consideration and respect in your speech and actions 

  • Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech 

  • Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants 

  • Alert leadership if you notice a dangerous situation, someone in distress, or violations of this policy, even if they seem minor (see more details below) 

The following behaviors do not belong at JQ International 

  • Harassment that discriminates against a specific group of people based on age, race, sex, ethnicity, national origin, religion, language, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, disability, health conditions, socioeconomic status, marital status, domestic status, and/or parental status (hereafter, simply referred to as “harassment”) 

  • Sexual harassment of any kind, including unwelcome sexual attention and inappropriate physical or verbal contact 

  • Abuse of power (including abuses related to position, wealth, race or gender) 

  • Yelling at, threatening, or bullying speakers, staff, or attendees 

  • Any significantly disruptive conduct 

  • Repeated interruption of a speaker or performance 

  • Actual, threatened, or implied retaliation against a person for complaining about a violation of these policies or for cooperating with an investigation into a complaint
