BOURBON RAFFLE

1 Bottle of Old Rip Van Winkle
10yr 107 proof
For many whiskey enthusiasts today, seeing a bottle of Pappy on a retail shelf is like seeing a unicorn. Named for Julian P. “Pappy” Van Winkle Sr. (1874-1965) the Van Winkle Collection are the most in-demand American whiskeys on the planet.
This year marks a special milestone as it is the 20th anniversary of the partnership between the Van Winkle family and Buffalo Trace Distillery. In 2002, the Van Winkles entered into an agreement with Buffalo Trace to produce, age, and bottle all its whiskeys, entrusting its wheated mashbill exclusively to the distilling team at Buffalo Trace to continue the family legacy started more than 125 years prior.
Van Winkle bourbons are crafted with Pappy’s original “wheated” recipe. Distilling with corn, barley, and wheat allows the whiskey to age more gracefully giving it a softer, smoother taste. This time-honored aging process produces some of the most sought-after bourbons in the world
The bottle features a fictitious Rip Van Winkle, a farmer who wandered into the mountains and drank liquor offered to him by a group of dwarves. He then slept for 20 years and awoke with a long grey beard.
WHAT TO KNOW: The bourbon is bottled near barrel proof at 107 proof.
WHAT OUR EXPERTS THINK IT TASTES LIKE: Maple sugar, butterscotch, and Red Hots along with dried fruits and sweet caramel.
