Even though I'm an alpaca, Captain Franklin says that everyone at Indraloka can get involved in the Goat Games. I live with another alpaca named Sandy- you might already know her! I also live with a herd of sheep and one elderly goat named Mira. She was Indraloka's Goat Games team captain last year, so she's been giving me pointers on how to take home the gold this year. Since I'm getting on in years myself, I wanted to get involved as a Goat Games athlete, but do something more leisurely and at my own pace. After much thought, I decided my Goat Games activity will be... SUNBATHING! I am SOOOOO excited that I was chosen to represent Indraloka Animal Sanctuary as the Goat Games team captain this year! What an honor! Everyone at Indraloka has been so nice to me since I was found on the side of a busy highway one chilly morning. The humans told me I was found on a day called "New Year's Eve" and that the next day would be a brand new year! They mentioned something about it being a new beginning for me, and boy were they right! I was real, real scared when I came to this new big place, but not anymore! Now, I am the fearless team captain of Indraloka, and my best friends, Oreo and Oliver, have been coaching me every step of the way! My favorite thing to do is play games with them all day long. We run, jump, head butt each other, and play on this awesome slide the humans gave us! Sometimes (okay, really ALL THE TIME!) we like to play tricks on the humans. They never get mad at us, though! I'm joining the Goat Games today in memory of Duncan. Duncan perhaps one of the kindest souls who ever walked this earth, crossed over in late 2021. Everyday since then, I have strived to cultivate Duncan's level of centeredness and kindness. Duncan also taught me another important lesson. When he was young, he was fit and remained very active, seemingly experiencing deep joy and gratitude as he took long walks with his brother, swam in his wallow, and napped in the sun. My Goat Games activity is emulating Duncan by staying active and enjoying every minute! Between now and the end of the Goat Games, I will walk 100 miles and I'm hoping to raise $1,500. I'm so excited to join The Goat Games this year with the help of my pal, Ramona! I plan to bike 10 miles during the Goat Games to raise funds and be a champion for the animals! I'm taking part in The Goat Games because I have seen firsthand what love and compassion can do for an animal in need. I have worked at Indraloka for just over a year, and I saw just how sick and scared little Franklin was when he was first rescued. Hearing updates from my team members caring for him left me so excited for his future! While he came to Indraloka a sick and scared little goat, he quickly learned to trust the humans around him and became a funny, mischievous guy! I loved hearing about his antics while in quarantine and about the moments he bonded with staff. In just a few months' time, he was flourishing and I couldn't believe that he was the same goat that came to us on New Year's Eve! I’m taking part in the 2022 Goat Games from Friday, August 12th through Monday, August 15th to help rescued farmed animals! The Goat Games is a virtual fundraiser for 13 animal sanctuaries across the country, and you can be a champion right where you live, work and play. I’ll be mooooo-ving to raise money for my favorite sanctuary and I’m asking for the support of friends and family to help me reach my goal! My name is Mazor Ner Tamid, or Mazzie for short! You may have seen me around Indraloka, hanging out with my best friend, Chandra. I wasn't sure that I could join the Goat Games, but with his encouragement, I decided to sign up! You see, my back leg doesn't work too well. When I was little, I wasn't looked after very well, but I was rescued and brought to Indraloka with a few other friends. However, something hurt my spine really bad, and I wasn't able to walk on one of my back legs. The nice people at the sanctuary though, they never gave up on me! They got me a wheelchair and helped me learn how to walk again! My back leg still doesn't work well, but I've learned to get around just fine with only three legs! I didn't know what kind of activity I could do for the Goat Games since I have trouble walking sometimes, but walking IS the perfect activity for me! I wanted to join to help encourage everyone else that, even if you can't do physical activities like bike riding or running, you can still be a Goat Games athlete! So, that's what I'm doing! I hope I can inspire someone who didn't think they could join to sign up to do an activity that's perfect for them! I have a goal to raise $400 for the Goat Games, and I know I can do it! Now, he spends his days with 2 new friends, Oreo and Oliver, running in the pastures and playing with no cares at all. His mischievous personality keeps us all on our toes but he loves hugs and snuggles from visitors. We are BFF team Miss Lily Pie and Dominic and we are in it to win it! We're going to be swimming all day, every day leading up to The Goat Games, 'cause it's our favorite thing to do! Not only is swimming fun, but it keeps us nice and cool during the summer! Did you know we love mud because it's just like sunscreen for us? No sunburn happening here! We've been best friends since the day we met at Indraloka, many years ago. We spend almost all of our time together, whether we are swimming, napping, or snacking!
