We are very proud to choose The Special Olympics as the recipient of the 2023 Soapbox $1 pledge - we will donate $1 for every meeting held on Soapbox. When you consider that we have hosted over 10,000 meetings since our inception, this certainly adds up. We would love your support in our quest to raise funds for this worthy cause. Please consider donating $1 for each meeting you have had on Soapbox (or any amount that you are comfortable with). If we all work together, we can double our goal. Thanks for your consideration!

We are students from Andover and North Andover who are members of the TOP program (Transition Opportunities Program). At TOP we learn college and work skills, independent living skills and community skills. We wanted to sell our flowers to raise money for the Special Olympics. We are Special Olympic athletes and look forward to participating in the event at our high schools every year. The Special Olympics is one of our favorite memories growing up so we want to give back to this organization. We raised our flowers from clippings at Konjoian’s Greenhouses in Andover. We learned a lot about how to raise plants and how a greenhouse operates. We not only learned how to raise plants, but we also learned valuable work skills like being on time for work, following directions, problem solving, and working with others. We can put our work experience at Konjoian's on our resumes. We also see our flower fundraiser as a small business project. We are learning about how to price our product and what our profit would be. We are also learning how to market our product and deliver the product once they are sold.We are providing one SunPatiens for each $10 donation. They come in 3 different colors: fuchsia, pink, and white. Numbers and colors are limited so please donate soon!!!! UPDATE as of 5/23/24:WE ARE SOLD OUT OF PLANTS!!!Please continue to donate to help us reach our goal!!!*participation is optional Thank you all for your support in our Special Olympics Fund Raiser!!!Pleasse contact Dan Butkovich at daniel.butkovich@andoverme.us with any questions.

As a Artist I understand the important role devloping and sharing special talents plays in living a full life. The opportunity to pusue a passion, set goals and experience success has the power to break isolation. The Special Olympics provides its athletes with these exciting community opportunities and assists all participants in developing life long skills, support, and friendships that lead to a life balanced with joy, love, passion and hard work. As the owner of Arrow Artistic Endeavors Gallery I selected the Special Olympics for their dedication to diversity, inclusion, and encouragement for their athletes. Together I believe that we can continue to strengthen that dedication and break isolation. In addition to establishing a fundraiser for these very special athletes and silent auction events 20% of all original artwork goes to benefit the Special Olympics program. Please join me and Arrow Artistic Endeavors Gallery in providing equipment, training and travel for the next Special Olympic Games. Visit us to learn more at Artpal.com/cdwhitmore45 or Arrowartistic@instagram for additional information on silent auction events and original art purchases.

Good morning. I am making this post as I walk out the door to take a great big bite out of my slice of life. Today I will start a 100-mile ultramarathon (GULP!) at Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham, AL. I hope to punctuate 2022 and 2023 with exclamation points by running out of one year and into another. Such a feat has been a goal of mine for years, and after months of training, today I will try to make it a reality. Whether I cover the distance is less important than making the effort to do so. I simply must try, and I am grateful for the support and encouragement that Lori and my family have provided. Ultrarunning can be a selfish sport. It takes a lot of time away from family and commands discipline. To make this challenge less selfish, every mile that I cover will increase my contribution to the Special Olympics in the memory and honor of Samuel Hurt. Last year, my friend and co-worker named Brian Hurt and his family unexpectedly lost their teenage son, Samuel Hurt. Samuel was an avid supporter of the Special Olympics and the ideals it embodies. My goal is to raise funds supporting the Special Olympics in Samuel’s honor as a tribute to him and his volunteerism for the Special Olympics. If you are so fortunate as to be able to support any charitable cause, I encourage you to make a contribution towards this fundraising effort (https://fundraise.givesmart.com/vf/SPECIAL/TroyMouton) OR the charity of your choice for each mile that I cover. Our combined efforts will create meaning from miles and breathe life into causes that need our collective support. I expect to see Lori periodically as this event unfolds, and she will share with me any observations about the causes that may benefit from this effort based on your comments and commitments. When the dust settles and I am able to share results, I will offer a race report that includes the miles completed should that distance impact any contribution you wish to make. Thank you for your consideration, support, and motivation to keep moving forward. Troy

I wanna extend myself out and do what I can for people that aren't getting their opportunities.
I felt the need to have the Special Olympics as my next charitable target because I would like to do my part for the people being sold short for things they can't control.
