Donna (Oberpriller) Stevens

Donna (Oberpriller) Stevens Donna Stevens was beautiful inside and out, with the superpower of turning strangers into friends. She cared deeply for everyone in her life and was kind and compassionate to all. Her impact was enormous, and she'll be remembered forever as a one-of-a-kind wife, mom, and friend. We know she would like to prevent someone else from experiencing pulmonary failure. Can you help? All proceeds go towards: • Finding effective treatments and a cure for pulmonary fibrosis• Advocating for the pulmonary fibrosis community • Promoting disease awareness • Providing a compassionate environment for patients and their families Please donate and together we can help those living with pulmonary fibrosis and the families of those we have lost. All donations are tax-deductible and every dollar raised goes to help support the mission of the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. If you cannot make a donation at this time, please forward this e-mail and link to everyone you know. Post this on your Facebook and Twitter pages. Every donation counts, no matter what the amount. The loss of a loved one is devastating. Yet, we are always reminded by our hearts – how lucky we have been to know those that we love even in our loss. Thank you for your thoughtfulness. Your generosity and support is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions please contact Jake Meding at jmeding@pulmonaryfibrosis.org or (312)854-2627

Go to Doug Dorling

Doug Dorling

On January 17, 2024, aquatic biologist, jokester, and family man, Doug Dorling (Keeper of the Lakes), 72, passed in the presence of his wife of 50 years in Olympia, WA after a multi-year battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. He is survived by his wife and 2 daughters. Doug was a man of diverse interests and deep connections. His love for his husky was evident in the warmth of their companionship, and his devotion to family radiated through every aspect of his life. Doug found joy in the simple pleasures – from the humming activity of his beloved beehives to the vibrant colors of his carefully tended garden. He was a such a kind and generous man; at any time he would give you the shirt off his back. A true enthusiast, Doug's spirit soared on game days as he passionately cheered on Boise State football. His enthusiasm for the sport was infectious, creating memorable moments with family and friends. Doug's love for excitement extended to his enjoyment of fireworks, turning ordinary nights into extraordinary displays of color and light. In quieter moments, you would find Doug unwinding with a bowl of pretzels in hand, engrossed in the adventures of the sea on "Deadliest Catch." His appreciation for life's varied experiences reflected a man who embraced every facet of existence. As we reflect on Doug's life, let us carry forward the lessons he imparted – a commitment to excellence, a zest for life's simple pleasures, and a profound love for family and friends. Though he may no longer walk among us, Doug's spirit lives on in the memories we hold dear and close. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in Doug's name, as a tribute to his generous nature and enduring legacy. May you rest in peace, dear Doug. You will be dearly missed, but your spirit will forever linger in our hearts! We love you Dad! Please donate in the name of Doug Dorling, so that a cure and/or treatments to prolong life for sufferers of this terrible disease can be found. Dr. Reginald Howard

In Memory of Dr. Reginald Howard Thanks for visiting our page. I am Jordan Howard, Running Back for the Chicago Bears. My father, Dr. Reginald B. Howard, was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis disease when I was only 3 years old. My father was an active athletic man in the prime of his life when he was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis. The diagnosis did not stop him from being a loving father and did not prevent him from helping prepare me for life and the game of football. I believe his diagnosis inspired him to enjoy life and his family even more. I watched him live with this disease for 9 years. I can still remember the not so good days when he didn't feel like fighting with the disease but continued to fight not just for himself but for his children. Pulmonary Fibrosis did not win with my daddy. Daddy fought until the very end but on January 31, 2007 he decided to move on to a better life at the age of 52. I am raising awareness and funds for the mission of the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. All proceeds go towards: • Finding effective treatments and a cure for pulmonary fibrosis• Advocating for the pulmonary fibrosis community• Promoting disease awareness• Providing a compassionate environment for patients and their familiesPlease donate and together we can help those living with pulmonary fibrosis and the families of those we have lost. Go to E. A. Merrill

E. A. Merrill

In Memory of E. A. Merrill The word “pulmonary” means lung and the word “fibrosis” means scar tissue— similar to scars that you may have on your skin from an old injury or surgery. So, in its simplest sense, pulmonary fibrosis (PF) means scarring in the lungs. Over time, the scar tissue can destroy the normal lung and make it hard for oxygen to get into your blood. Low oxygen levels (and the stiff scar tissue itself) can cause you to feel short of breath, particularly when walking and exercising. Pulmonary fibrosis isn’t just one disease. It is a family of more than 200 different lung diseases that all look very much alike. The PF family of lung diseases falls into an even larger group of diseases called the interstitial lung diseases (also known as ILD), which includes all of the diseases that have inflammation and/or scarring in the lung. Some interstitial lung diseases don’t include scar tissue. When an interstitial lung disease does include scar tissue in the lung, we call it pulmonary fibrosis. No one is certain how many people are affected by PF. One recent study estimated that idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (or IPF, which is just one of more than 200 types of PF) affects 1 out of 200 adults over the age of 60 and over in the United States—that translates to more than 200,000 people living with PF today. Approximately 50,000 new cases are diagnosed each year and as many as 40,000 Americans die from IPF each year. Dad's PF was from inhaling fiber glass and asbestos during his career as an insulator at nuclear power plants across the country. The life expectancy of someone with PF is 3-5 years after diagnosis. Dad's diagnosis was a little over 5 years ago. Please donate in the name of E. A. Merrill, so that a cure and/or treatments to prolong life for sufferers of this terrible disease can be found.
