Elynn Rae Kennedy 1941-2021 Please consider donating in memory of Elynn, so that a cure and treatment can be possible for others. Elynn was born October 9, 1941, in Crossfield, Alberta, Canada, to Nyall and Rosma Tweedle. She was the third of four daughters. She came to the United States and married Robert Friedrich in 1961. They had three daughters: Connie Marie, Heather Lynn and Sherree Rene’e. In 1972 she married Major Charles Joseph Baker in Colorado Springs, CO. A widower who had 4 small children whom Elynn raised: Charles Jr. “Chuck”, Susan, Stephen, and Elizabeth “Lisa”. She had an amazing way to connect with people and always had a “Your New Best Friend” attitude. She became the first woman District Governor for Lions Club International. She and her husband Chuck remained active members until his passing in 2003. After becoming a widow, she moved to Palm Desert, CA where she met a wonderful man, Ralph Kennedy, a widower, and married him on March 17, 2005. Elynn had a zest for life and was very active in her community. She was an avid golfer and was president of the Sun City Palm Desert Women’s Golf Association. She belonged to the Canadian Club in SCPD. She enjoyed guitar and singing lessons among other hobbies. Her dream car had always been a Guards Red Porsche Boxster and in 2016 her dream came true! She and Ralph took many wonderful road trips traveling all over the country and Canada for months at a time. She became an active member and Vice president of the Porsche Club of America Riverside Region, participating in many Porsche Parades and Treffens throughout the US and Canada. In 2014, she was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis but that didn’t stop her. She would say “no rocking chair for me”. She and Ralph traveled even more. She was always very grateful to have met wonderful people who gave her hope and inspiration to go through her ailment. When people asked her how she did it, she would say “Faith and Attitude” and she sure had both and in that order! She became a PFF Ambassador (pulmonary fibrosis) and gave several talks and support to others with the same ailment and to medical professionals. Elynn was called to be with the Lord on September 23, 2021. She is survived by her loving husband of 16 years, Ralph, her 7 children, Ralph’s family, her sister Rosma Jean “Sue” and her family in Canada, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and many, many friends that she cultivated throughout her amazing life. Emma Bagwell Hyde June 7, 1948 - April 22, 2023 Emma Bagwell Hyde’s heart of gold came to a final rest on Saturday, April 22, 2023, bringing her battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) to a conclusion. While the little-known, uncurable lung disease was mighty, Emma’s determination (with a touch of stubbornness) allowed her to spend several years more than doctors predicted with her husband and love of her life for the past 50 years – Fred Hyde. She also was able to witness both her children marry their loves during that time – with Christie Hyde DeNave sharing vows with husband Joe on the beach near her home in Florida in 2015 and F. Michael Hyde pledging his love to wife Gina a year later in Spartanburg. But her true strength and determination to fight IPF was drawn from her granddaughters – 5-year-old Lydia Hyde and 14-year-old Emily DeNave – whom she loved, supported, and doted upon to the very end. Emma strongly encouraged those who wanted recognize her passing to not send flowers or other items, but instead to make a donation to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation with hopes of someday finding a cure for this dreadful disease that took her from us. Our beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Ernesto “Ernie” Gonzalez passed away on Friday, September 9, 2022. Ernie was a die-hard Dallas Cowboy’s fan and Texas Longhorns, he never missed the games. His favorite pastime was fishing. On behalf of our family, thank you for your heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. A memorial service is tentatively scheduled in Waxahachie June 30th with details to follow. Our family wishes you knew more about the disease that took mom, Evelyn Harman Heape; it is called Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) and it is a scarring disease of the lungs of unknown cause. There’s no cure for IPF; and, to that end, if you wish to honor mom please consider donating to research efforts towards it. Evelyn was born June 30, 1938 in Bakersfield, CA. Faye Lauga Kalpakis, 81, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, and resident of Thibodaux, Louisiana passed away peacefully at home with her family on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 after a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Faye had a bright and engaging personality and was known for her love of gardening, cooking, hosting, and above all, for her commitment to her family who she loved dearly. She was an active lifetime member of the Hermanas Club and Bridge Club, and a dedicated church-goer who always cherished praising the Lord. In 1961, Faye was happily married to Dr. Bill Kalpakis who was her partner in life for almost 62 years at the time of her death. Together, they traveled the world, created a beautiful home, and raised a loving family.
