In honor of our mother, Kathleen A Legro Kathe was born in Oakland CA at the end of WWII to wonderful parents. She was beautiful, intelligent, vivacious, creative, and giving. She loved to dance, play cards, cook, shop, decorate, be with friends, and help others who were in need. Along with her life achievements, she overcame many challenges head on during her time, even proving doctors wrong and walked again one Christmas Day. Our mother was an unmatchable warrior facing challenges fearlessly! We are eternally grateful for the many ways she shaped us throughout her life to be the individuals we are today. Her memory is honored by her life partner Jack, her daughters Jodie (son-in-law Chris), RaeAnn, her son Darryl (son-in-law Richard). Her grandchildren Christopher, Larry, Brandy, Brittany, Kiera (husband Ryan), and Nicolas. Her great grandchildren Tyjir, Makenna, Ryleigh, Bayah, CJ, Lexie, Santonio, Evelyn, Jameson, and Honey. Kathy Bastyr Zawacki, 70, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2021, from Pulmonary Fibrosis, surrounded by her family. She was born December 8, 1950, in Rochester PA and moved to Whitehall PA early in life. While growing up in Whitehall, Kathy graduated from Saint Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin Grade School and subsequently graduated from Saint Basil High School. She went on to graduate from The University of Pittsburgh in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree in education and as a member of Theta Phi Alpha sorority, Kappa chapter. After graduation she returned to the Baldwin Whitehall area as an elementary teacher. After having her kids, Kathy became a stay-at-home mother and was very active in her children’s lives. She enjoyed volunteering at their schools, being part of the PTO, and being a Girl Scout Troop leader. She was a devoted lifelong Catholic, most recently of St. Louise De Marillac Church in Pittsburgh, PA. Kathy was the beloved wife of Robert Zawacki (45 years) and the proud mother of Michael (Cassie) Zawacki and Julie (Cody) Weese. Kathy was the dear sister of Paul (Peg) Bastyr, Anne (Bill) Beisel, Mark (Tina) Bastyr, Jane (Drew) Ondik, and Dave (Mary Jane) Bastyr and the sister-in-law of Barbara Zawacki. Kathy was known as Grammy to her one granddaughter, Bailey Weese and the loving Aunt Kathy to many nieces and nephews. Kathy was a friend to everyone she met and everyone she met loved her. She will be remembered for her caring actions & kind soul. Kendon Cory Everts Please donate in the name of Kendon Cory Everts, so that a cure and/or treatments to prolong life for sufferers of this terrible disease can be found. Kendon, age 71 passed peacefully, after a struggle with pulmonary fibrosis, in his hometown of Dearborn, MI, Feb. 7, 2020. A professional drummer/musician since 1970 and a member of AFM Local 5 for 50 years, Kendon played most styles of contemporary music in a variety of gigs from lounge acts to weddings, recording sessions, industrial shows, Broadway musicals, jazz concerts, and a 1988 tour of Germany, Austria and Switzerland with a New York company performing Evita. He married high school friend Madelyn Cain and moved to Boston in 1998. Kendon worked with Peter Vanderwarker, top architectural photographer in New England. After moving to Rogers, AR in 2000, Kendon worked at Consumer Testing Labs for 15 years. NW Arkansas musicians welcomed Kendon with open arms where he played a wide variety of music, including three seasons with Les Brown’s Band of Renown in Branson, MO. He moved back to Dearborn in late 2018. Kendon was an avid golfer, accomplished photographer and dabbled in creative writing and recording his own multi-instrumental music at home. Kendon added his own brand of fun to all situations with his exuberant goofiness and zany sense of humor. He was a kind and generous man and a loving husband and step-father. After losing his 20-year-old cat last year, he wrote, “I hope the people who loved us, will miss us.” Kendon will most definitely be missed and will remain in our hearts forever. He designed his headstone to say “…and the beat goes on.” Kendon was preceded in death by his parents, George and Vivian (DeClercque) Everts, and survived by wife, Madelyn, stepdaughter, Nova Zorok and a scattering of cousins and longtime friends from around the country. Kerry Carlee Kerry struggled for many years with IPF. He had a double lung transplant in 2018. Recovery was difficult for Kerry and he was never fully well but he pushed himself every day as he wanted so much to live. His determination gave him nearly five more years - time in which he got to see his children continue to succeed at their various endeavors and to meet the two grandchildren born after the transplant. Early diagnosis might have helped but his IPF was end stage before his wonderful doctor, Dr. Caesar Agagan, helped figure out the problem. Kerry lost his battle on July 7, 2023, but was so very grateful for the extra time his transplant gave us. Our family is so shattered by his passing- but you can help us honor the memory of this brave, compassionate and courageous man and help others suffering from this disease with your contribution.
