Kyungil "KC" Cho "The Mountains are calling, and I must go."KC cared deeply about people and always put others first. He loved his family, his home, his garden, and his neighborhood in OC. His greatest joy was being a grandfather after he retired from 30 years of public service, working for the State of California. He was proud of his Korean heritage, his alma mater (Seoul National University), and his service in the Korean Air Force.K.C. did not let IPF limit him from living life to the fullest. He was passionate about the outdoors and was true to the philosophy of John Muir who wrote, “The Mountains are calling, and I must go.” He hiked and skied until his last year with small oxygen tanks on his back. Up until his last month, he walked an hour a day on the beach, swam in a pool with his oxygen tanks on floats, and exercised with a personal trainer. KC used a portable oxygen machine to travel and spent his last year adventuring... driving across America to see the national parks, hiking in the footsteps of Charles Darwin in the Galapagos Islands, and becoming a Hawaiian "native,” enjoying stunning Maui sunsets with his toes in the sand. Lawrence D. “L.D.” Schnake passed away on December 22, 2021, at his home in the presence of his family. L.D. was born in the home of his parents, Lawrence and Thelma Schnake near Stark City, MO. L.D. grew up on the family farm, preparing him for a career in agriculture. After graduating high school, L.D. attended the University of Missouri, achieving his Bachelor’s Degree in biological science. L.D. participated in ROTC, and after his undergraduate studies, he was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Army and spent two years stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, in artillery. In 1964, L.D. met Barbara, and they married later that year. L.D. entered graduate school at Oklahoma State University, completing his Ph.D. in agricultural economics in 1972. That year, L.D. and Barbara moved to Manhattan, and Barbara gave birth to their son, John Lawrence. L.D. worked at the US Department of Agriculture field office in Manhattan until 1984, when the family moved to the Kansas City area when he started work at the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation. L.D. retired in 1999 but never slowed down, commenting, “I haven’t ever figured out how I had time to make a living!” L.D. had a life-long love of landscape and spent many joy-filled hours tending to plants and his yard. He enjoyed tinkering and fixing anything he could get his hands on. L.D. and Barbara enjoyed annual trips to Rocky Mountain National Park in the fall. L.D. expressed his love of music by singing in the Old Mission United Methodist Church choir. L.D. was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Roy Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, son John (Dawn), sister Doris Johnson, and two grandchildren. A memorial service has been scheduled for April 23, 2 pm, at Old Mission United Methodist Church, 5519 State Park Road, Fairway, KS. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or Old Mission United Methodist Church. Larry Wayne Johnson, 65, of Minot, ND, died Monday, August 8, 2022, in a Minot hospital with his loving family surrounding him. Larry was born on May 23, 1957, in Kenmare, ND, to LeRoy and Lorna (Rasmusson) Johnson. He was raised in Minot with his sister, Carol, and brother, Wayne. Larry’s loving family includes his wife, Becky and sons, Drew and Lucas. Larry thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent visiting and socializing with family and friends. Along with Becky, Larry acquired a large family of people who loved him and welcomed him into their lives. If he could lend a helping hand to anyone, he was more than willing to do so. Lawrence Klatzkin, Larry, loved his life, his family and friends. He fought a truly heroic battle, enduring two double lung transplants, and numerous other surgeries. He was an extraordinary husband, and a phenomenal father, brother, and son.Larry was a brilliant and incredible businessman, leader, as well as a film producer. Him and his partner Carlos were the best team, together they lit up the industrial bag industry. Both had learned from Larry’s father and grandfather’s family business, Marino Technologies.Larry enjoyed life. He loved spending time with his family, cooking, entertaining, boating, cars, and travel.He was truly a one in a million and touched many lives.Larry is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Robin; children Adam and Erica; mother Caroline; sister Tonianne, and three lovely nieces.Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Monday, July 3, starting with a visitation from 2:00PM to 3:00PM, and a funeral service at 3:00PM, at the Gardens of Boca Raton Funeral Home & Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry’s honor may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago IL 60611.
