Richard Johnson

Richard Johnson Please make a donation to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in memory of Richard Johnson, our beloved father, who lost his 6-year battle to pulmonary fibrosis on 4/19/2018. Rick was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 2012, and subsequently developed pulmonary fibrosis as a sequelae of RA. He valiantly fought a long battle, attempting multiple immunosuppressant therapies to prevent the progression of his lung disease. Rick was a very active individual, and up until his most recent illness was walking 1-2 miles a day. He loved healthy living and exercise, and promoted this way of life to everyone who crossed his path. Rick adored music and cherished well-written lyrics, he was known to always have a song to describe different journeys he had taken in his life. He is survived by his two daughters, who hope that this memorial fund will provide individuals with pulmonary fibrosis the support they need through their journey in memory of their wonderful, fun-loving, and incredibly strong father. All proceeds go towards: • Finding effective treatments and a cure for pulmonary fibrosis• Advocating for the pulmonary fibrosis community • Promoting disease awareness • Providing a compassionate environment for patients and their families Please donate and together we can help those living with pulmonary fibrosis and the families of those we have lost. Your generosity and support are greatly appreciated. Richard (Dick) Anthony Risio, 79, of Ashaway, RI passed away peacefully at his summer home in West Yarmouth, MA on Saturday, Aug 31, 2019. Dick was born in East Providence, RI to Guido and Catherine (Friel) Risio on Jul 29, 1940. He graduated from LaSalle Academy and URI where he was a proud member of Sigma Chi maintaining lifelong friendships with his fraternity brothers. On Dec 14, 1963, he married Nancy (Williamson) Risio, they enjoyed 55 years together, and Nancy was with him when he passed. Together, they raised two daughters, Sue and Naomi, and a son Andrew. Dick lived a life of serving others: he was a proud Army Veteran who served in Vietnam, a public educator for thirty years at Stonington High School, a lifelong commentator at his church and a helping hand any time a neighbor, friend or family member was in need. Always ready for a game of pitch or cribbage, he played with the same circle of friends for over 50 years. He was loved for his wit and fondness for April Fool's practical jokes. His greatest joy was spending time with friends and family. Dick is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Cathy Storti. He is survived by brother Robert Risio and sister Ann Ring, his beloved wife Nancy, daughter Susan Marchal and husband Philip; son Andrew Risio and wife Carmen; and daughter Naomi Warchol and husband Robert. Dick was a loving grandfather to Isabella and Jacqueline Marchal, Christopher and Alexander Risio, and Julia, Helena and Burke Warchol. Special thanks to the staff at Beacon Hospice, Drs. Walter Donat and Warren Licht, as well as many friends and family who helped care for him in his time of need. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday Sep 12 from 5-8pm at Buckler-Johnson Funeral Home, 121 Main Street, Westerly, RI 02891. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church 69 Main St., Ashaway on Friday 10am. Burial will be for immediate family only. For online condolences, please visit www.buckler-johnston.com. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to be made in Dick’s name to The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

Rick Price

Rick Price This picture was taken one week after dad's successful lung transplant. He was always a rockstar... always a fighter. When he was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2012, true to his nature, he never let it take him down. At that time, he had six young grandchildren and two yet to come. He was committed to living life to the fullest with his family - traveling, outdoor adventuring (rafting, hunting, fishing), going to the movies, and laughing. When the disease became a bit more debilitating, he became his own best advocate and chose to undergo a lung transplant in September 2019. Since that time, he did exactly what he hoped to do - he continued living life to the fullest in the most irreverent, joyful, unapologetic way. The biggest champion of his grandkids - Naia, Ben, Santi, Nolan, Grace, Sofi, Mica, Sam - he cherished the bonds he built and the jokes they shared. He has mentored and supported so many and he took immense pride in every one of his kids, grandkids, and countless others. We will continue to honor his legacy and his commitment to a better world by carrying his causes forward. In the name of one of the most generous people we have ever known, we ask others to honor Rick through a donation to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation so that a cure and/or treatments can be found and others may live their best lives free from this terrible disease. All proceeds go towards: • Finding effective treatments and a cure for pulmonary fibrosis• Advocating for the pulmonary fibrosis community • Promoting disease awareness • Providing a compassionate environment for patients and their families All donations are tax-deductible and every dollar raised goes to help support the mission of the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. My Brother passed away on 11/10/21 after a long hard battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. By the time he was officially diagnosed, there wasn't a lot of treatment options for him. He was strong and always tried showing his family that he was ok. It was heartbreaking watching this horrible disease take its course. I hope he knew how much he was loved. I'm posting this dedication in hopes to bring awareness to Pulmonary Fibrosis. Please donate in the name of Ricky Gascoigne, so that a cure and/or treatments to prolong life for sufferers of this terrible disease can be found. Rip Kirby Please donate in the name of Lawrence Rip Kirby, so that a cure and/or treatments to prolong life for sufferers of this terrible disease can be found. Lawrence “Rip” Kirby of Rutland, Vermont passed away Saturday, January 4th, 2020 at age 59, surrounded by those he held dearest. Rip was born on October 21, 1960 in Watertown, NY to Lawrence and Yolanda Kirby, and spent most of his childhood in Chazy, NY. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Clarkson University in 1984, and worked at Central Hudson Gas and Electric in Poughkeepsie, NY until he moved to Rutland, VT in 1988. There, he worked as an electrical engineer for VELCO until 2001, and then CVPS/GMP until his retirement in 2017, during which time he earned his Professional Engineering (P.E.) licensure. He then worked as the electrical engineer for the State of Vermont Department of Public Service until his passing. Rip was a captivating and engaging presence. In his free time, he enjoyed playing scrabble and doing crossword puzzles, cooking chili for charity, and writing when a topic moved him. He collected guns and loved classic cars; he prided himself on his ability to recognize the make, model, and year of almost any classic car, and loved to chew the fat with a fellow owner at various regional car shows. He was a wealth of knowledge and had an unmatched sense of humor; he enjoyed nothing more than getting a room full of people laughing. He was a generous, gentle, loving man who will be missed dearly by many.
