Perhaps the greatest challenge accompanying unemployment is food insecurity. For years, Houston Food Bank has led the fight against hunger in Southeast Texas and continues to do so in these challenging times. On any given day, many Americans struggle to put food on the table. This has been exacerbated by COVID-19 which has created an enormous unemployment situation. The Houston Food Bank and the East Texas Food Bank are both great organizations supporting their communities with much needed food. Rockcliff is blessed with its team and its assets and would like to support the communities where our employees live. Rockcliff is sponsoring a fundraiser to benefit the Houston Food Bank and the East Texas Food Bank. Funds from this virtual food drive will benefit the Houston Food Bank.

During this challenging time, TDECU is focusing on the financial wellness of its members, but also recognizes the immediate needs in the communities where we have a presence. TDECU is inviting its employees and Members to support its virtual campaign, benefitting the Houston Food Bank. To assist during the COVID-19 health crisis, Houston Food Bank is currently: Distributing approximately 800,000 pounds of food daily, compared to normal distribution of 400,000 pounds Providing quarantine food kits Continuing and increasing regular partner agency distributions Distributing senior care boxes If you are able to make a donation to support those impacted, your gift will fill boxes with food for neighbors across the food bank’s 18-county service area. TDECU’s goal is to provide 30,000 meals to individuals and families in need. Because of Houston Food Bank’s partnerships with manufacturers and distributors, the organization can turn one dollar in to providing someone with access to three meals. The impact is incredible! Like last year, we have set up a webpage, so that our community members can make electronic donations directly to the HFB. The HFB is the largest food bank in the United States, in both size and distribution. Through a network with 1,800 community partners (which includes food pantries, soup kitchens, meal sites and shelters), the HFB is able to service 18 counties in Southeast Texas and help those struggling with food insecurity. In addition, they provide programs and services aimed at helping families achieve long-term stability including nutrition education, job training, health management, and help in securing state-funded assistance.
