UWSP Pointers for Special Olympics Hello! Thank you for visiting our page! For over 9.5 years, NCAA Division III has nurtured a partnership with Special Olympics that we hold dear to our hearts. UWSP's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has created a team for the 2021 Polar Plunge: Chillin' at Home. While we can't jump into icy waters this year at the actual Polar Plunge, we're making our own fun at home and still showing the athletes of Special Olympics Wisconsin that they have our support! After our fundraising is complete, we will be compiling a video of representatives from our athletic teams participating in creative ways to take the plunge (taking an ice bath, dropping a bucket of ice water on ourselves while performing our favorite TikTok dance, making swimsuit snow angels, having a winter water balloon fight, etc.) that will be shared with our family, friends, and supporters. Special Olympics athletes not only break down barriers to build communities of inclusion, but they spread light wherever they go, and they inspire us to be the best versions of ourselves. We are very grateful and blessed to have a partnership with Special Olympics, and we strive to advocate their amazing mission. Please consider joining or making a donation to our team for this great event! The cost to support one athlete for one year is $757--help us reach our goal! We greatly appreciate you and your generosity! Thank you, UWSP SAAC

Valencia Bates enjoyed a full 41 years of life before she began her final praise on January 7, 2024. Special Olympics of Cobb County provided many opportunities for her to be free. This fundraiser is in honor of Valencia and is dedicated to all the smiles created by the special work of this program.

Want to join me in supporting a good cause? I'm raising money for Special Olympics and your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate $5 or $500. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support. I've included information about Special Olympics below. Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

We are having our first annual Weed Man basketball game with FRI group vs LND group on April 23rd 2022. The purpose of this game is to raise awareness and money for the Special Olympics. The Special Olympics is a great organization that helps athletes with disabilities find enjoyment outside of their normal day to day. When traveling to these events, you can tell how much fun these athletes are having with the giant smiles on their faces. Please donate what you can to help these athletes around the Chicagoland area!

William (Billy) Fierstein, Sean Greenspan, and Jason Heyn Our three man team of childhood friends will be attempting the 4 State Challenge Hike. Our goal is to hike 44 miles of the Appalachian Trail over the course of 24 hours. We will begin our hike on December 29, 2020 at Pen Mar County Park in Pennsylvania, moving through Maryland, West Virginia, and finishing at the Weverton Cliffs parking lot in Virginia on December 30, 2020. We want to partner with the Special Olympics to raise money as we attempt this feat. The three of us are lifelong athletes who grew up playing recreational and team sports. Being an athlete and part of teams has taught us invaluable lessons such as the importance of teamwork, goal setting, and determination. As a Special Educator in the public school system, I have seen firsthand how budget cuts and a lack of access to resources for individuals with differing abilities can negatively impact these young adults. Too often these programs are unavailable or too costly for many families and a whole population of people are missing out on the benefits of sports because of it. We believe that the Special Olympics provides a service that has an immeasurable impact on their athletes, families, and friends in the community. Sports bring together a diverse group of people promoting friendships and relationships rarely cultivated in other areas of life. We believe we have an opportunity to highlight the amazing work done by the Special Olympics organization; by pushing ourselves physically, in turn, our friends and family will push themselves to donate to this great cause!
Glencoe Rotary Fun Run! The Glencoe Rotary Club and Glencoe Park District are partnering to raise money for Special Olympics! Please join us in our virtual Rotary Fun Run by running 2 miles any time between July 3rd through July 5th, and donating on this page.

Every year, the new members of Xi Epsilon choose a cause important to them for the sorority to fundraise for in our annual Floozapalooza philanthropy event. This year, our new class chose the Special Olympics as a cause near to their hearts:"Growing up, I have always helped the special needs children in church and school so it’s something I hold dear to my heart. I feel like children with special needs and diasabilities get over looked a lot, and we heard about that funding for this cause has decreased we wanted to take action. The Special Olympics is so important because it gives people with special needs the opportunity to show everyone that they can do anything, even with a disability."
