On June 26, 2019, Rick Lawrence, APF Chairman for the State of Florida passed suddenly. He was involved in the Powerlifting community for many years. In October of 2018, it was announced that in April of 2019, AAPF Nationals was including a Special Olympics division in which was held in Myrtle Beach, SC. Approximately, 8 athletes competed both in the AAPF Nationals and the AWPC Worlds held in April and August of 2019. As these lifters were on that platform lifting their hearts out, Rick was at center of attention cheering them on. This was one of the best things that could have happened to the APF/AAPF. This is a fundraiser to help these Special athletes achieve their dreams in Rick's honor.

I've been a supporter of the Special Olympics for many years and I'm reaching out to people in my industry to ask that you give to this amazing organization. These boys, girls, men & women all want to succeed like you and I do. Special Olympics brings joy to people who need help and their families. If you need more information please reach out to me and I'd be happy to fill you in on what they're doing and how little it takes to change a life. As a Freemason, I've seen first hand the joy on the face of some of these amazing people. The sense of pride they feel when they can get out there and show their stuff. I just want to be able to help more of them be able to go to these events.
