As an alumnus of the College that places the “A” in FAMU, you probably remember the friends, professors, and advisors that helped you along the way; as well as the activities you were exposed to and those that you wished were available to you. Here is an opportunity to pay it forward in honor of those who helped you and at the same time helped current students to have even more options that may or may not have been available to you. Please join other FAMU supporters in giving back to the College of Agriculture and Food Sciences on this Day of Giving. In the College of Agriculture and Food Sciences (CAFS), we are a family within the FAMUly. We desire to provide our students with the academic enrichment, extracurricular enhancements, and support services that aid in their growth as young adults while giving them the ability to focus on what is essential, get good grades and graduate on time. Through support and commitment to CAFS, we can all make a big difference in the lives and experiences of our current students. We need your financial gift to our Academic Support Fund to provide the programming, sponsored events, conference attendances, and a host of other services that will enhance the quality of our students’ academic life. We are thankful for any amount that you can give. We can exceed our modest goal of $5,000 if 100 of you donate $50. However, we want to raise much more to do more for our students, and with your financial support, we can do it. We appreciate your consideration, and we hope to make this a successful “1887 Strikes” Day of Giving! We Can Do It, and You Can Help! Success Story - We have used funding in the past to enhance the student experience in CAFS by sending students to MANRRS and ASABE conferences, paying for food at on-campus events, and prizes for our research competition. We want to continue this great work.

While we welcome financial support for scholarships, bar preparation and other student needs, we are focusing this year on some of the non-academic requirements of our law students. Funding for the Student Bar Association and other law student organizations has decreased significantly over the past few years. As a result, many events and programs that have become FAMU Law traditions have been cut back significantly or forgone because of limited resources. Please support College of Law student activities during the 2024 FAMU Day of Giving, 1887Strikes, by donating to one or more law student organizations that are working to positively impact the community. These extracurricular and co-curricular activities will help to enhance our students' experiences outside the classroom, ensure that students receive a comprehensive legal education, and help to transform students into lawyers who are leaders.

This Campaign was launched during Black History Month in 2016 after the NAA learned that there were a significant number of documented students (most of them seniors) who could not register for spring semester due to overwhelming debt. Even though the University provided millions of dollars in institutional aid, talented students were still unable to afford to continue their education. Unfortunately, they had to withdraw from classes. This program provides financial assistance, which will enable students to stay in school and eventually earn their degrees from FAMU.

The Meek-Eaton Black Archives (MEBA) through its founder, the late Dr. James N. Eaton has been trailblazing the effort to collect and preserve the stories and material of the Black experience since 1971. These materials range from Florida A&M University history to information on Blacks all over the Southeast United States, long before there was a national museum. In doing so, the facility has advance and over exceeded itself in collections, however the capacity, infrastructure, and technology has long been neglected. In partnership with the Smithsonian, MEBA is now on the verge of building on the works of Dr. Eaton and making its holdings digitally accessible, while expanding its historical exhibits for public viewing in new and exciting ways. Your donations will support the efforts of the Meek-Eaton Black Archives in becoming a global destination for students, alumni, faculty, tourist, and the general public. This push will realize the dream of its founder that "African American History is the History of America," and provide work learning experience for students in the field of cultural arts, museum and archival studies, and digital humanities, thus creating alternative non-traditional career tracks for FAMU students.

FAMU is positioning itself to be a premiere destination institution for elite students from across the globe. The goal is to secure a funding base of $250,000 to provide 125 one-year “Enrollment Stipends” worth $2,000 per scholar and/or high performer. There are two (2) profitable student populations transitioning from high school settings that are able to assist us with reaching our recruitment benchmarks. Students who are admitted to FAMU with at least a 4.0 core GPA (Top Scholar Stipend). These students directly affect the upward trend of the University’s academic profile. In addition, students who have been admitted with at least 30 to 60 hours of dual-enrollment credit. These students will directly influence the 4-year graduation rates at FAMU. Undergraduate Student Success

Undergraduate Student Success provides academic support to all undergraduate students at the University. Our unit provides tutoring, coaching, peer mentorship, academic advising, workshops, and other activities to support student success. Many of our students face significant barriers that prevent them from achieving their academic goals. These obstacles include financial hardship, lack of access to resources, and inadequate academic support. We believe that by providing support and resources to these students, we can help them overcome these barriers and achieve their goals. When our students persist, progress and graduate this also elevates the student success metrics of the university. In addition, when our students reach their goals they are better positioned to have an impact in their career fields and communities. This initiative will assist current and future students by: -providing financial assistance to increase persistence and retention, in the form of small retention grants - establishing and maintaining academic support programs, such as workshops, competitions, symposiums and summits - providing access to resources such as textbooks, technology, and other educational materials - promote student success by creating a supportive campus community that fosters academic excellence, personal growth, and career development -provide incentives and food for social events that allow students to network and build community.
