K9 Abrams is a 9 year old German Shepherd. He served the Prince William County Police Department, as a dual-purpose Patrol/Explosives K9 from 2015 to 2023. You couldn’t ask for a better road dog than K9 Abrams. He loves to travel and has accompanied his handler up and down the east coast to numerous USPCA National Certifications and other training opportunities. Through his role as an explosives detection K9 he was tasked to conduct countless searches for highly attended concerts at a local venue as well as travel throughout the DMV to assist with other large high profile events. K9 Abrams’s happy place is on the beach with his floating Nero ball. His handler plans on taking him to the beach as often as possible so that he can spend his retirement living his best life. Ace worked with the Roanoke City Police Department as a single purpose narcotic detection dog. During his short tenure, K9 Ace was responsible for detecting multiple narcotics leading to a multitude of arrests making Roanoke City that much safer! Due to a law change regarding marijuana, Ace had to be retired at a very young age. Ace had a strong drive to work and is always on the move! Since retirement, Ace has served as his handler’s running partner (keeping in shape for the newest working dog) and has since learned deer-shed hunting. Just recently, Ace had taken a corn cob from the handler’s child while they were eating dinner. The handler is currently awaiting news from the vet about possible emergency surgery to have the corn cob removed from his digestive tract. Arci has been a part of numerous canine sweeps throughout his working career which started in 2015. He and his partner Inspector George currently served the Pittsburgh, PA area but always worked wherever the mission needed them. During his shortened work career, Arci has assisted working many high-profile events. Those included the 2017 presidential inauguration Washington, DC, 2017 NFL Draft in Philadelphia, PA, 2017 Attorney General Visit to Pittsburgh, 2017-2020 9/11 Remembrance events in Shanksville, PA, 2017, 18, 19, 22 Pittsburgh Marathon 2021 WVU Mountaineer Field and practice facilities just to name a few. He has responded to many calls for service of bomb threats, unattended packages, suspicious packages, and vehicles. His high energy and drive made him stronger in his job. While off duty Arci loves playing fetch with a tennis ball or frisbee, running with his partner or chasing birds and squirrels. His favorite fruit is bananas and enjoys any treat that is given to him. K9 Ares served as an active member of the United States Secret Service Uniformed Division Explosive Detection Unit from April 2011 to April 2017. During that time frame, she provided a safe and secure environment for individuals, and locations, protected by the USSS. These locations included the White House, Vice President's residence as well as numerous foreign embassies located throughout the Washington, D.C. area. On May 26, 2022, due to urgent circumstances, Ares had to have her eye removed. Without the help of Paws of Honor, Ares' treatment, surgery and recovery would have cost her owner over $12k. MWD Arnost served the United States Navy as a Dual-Purpose Explosive Detection and Patrol dog. SPONSORED BY: K-9 Aro was born in Netherlands on March 12, 2013. Aro was bought by the U.S. Border Patrol on November, 2014. He began his detection training for concealed humans and the odor of controlled substance on January, 2015 at Canine Center Front Royal in Virginia. On March, 2015, K-9 Aro was assigned to Border Patrol Agent (BPA), Kennett Chavez. On April 22, K-9 Aro and BPA Chavez were certified as a team. On April 27, K-9 Aro and his partner began their travel back to their assigned station at Alpine, Texas. During his time in Alpine, TX, K-9 Aro was responsible for over 100 seizures that ranged from personal use and a couple hundred pounds of different types of drugs. On November, 2016, K-9 Aro and BPA Chavez were transferred to El Centro, California. From November, 2016 until his retirement in June 3, 2022, K-9 Aro was responsible for the apprehension of over 2,000 subjects in the field and multiple methamphetamine and cocaine in El Centro Border Patrol Sector. K-9 Aro has been dealing with Renal Kidney Disease and has been on a prescription diet his whole life. Aro was rushed to the veterinary after showing signs of gastric torsion. An emergency Splenectomy was performed on Aro after a ruptured mass was discovered. Due to his health issues and age, he was retired from the Border Patrol and was given full responsibility to BPA Chavez. Baco is a 9yo Mali. Work He work for the city of Norfolk for 5 yr. Hip Dysplasia lead to his early retirement. He is now a loving house dog, loved by his family. On May 27, 2019, #NorfolkPD Officer Simpson and K9 “Baco” responded to an armed robbery that just happened near their location. Officer Simpson noticed the suspect walking down the street and ordered him to stop. The suspect took off running. Officer Simpson grabbed his partner K9 Officer Baco from his patrol vehicle and they began to chase after the suspect. Officer Simpson let Baco off the leash and in no time, the suspect was apprehended and held until Officer Simpson could place the suspect in handcuffs. The investigation later revealed that the suspect had already committed several violent felonies that same night including a homicide. For their exceptional service to the citizens of Norfolk, Officer Simpson and K9 Officer Baco were honored by the American Legion Tidewater Post 327, Norfolk, Virginia and named 2019 Police Officers of the Year! During Bambi’s career, he was able to assist the State Police by tracking several individuals that absconded from a rollover accident that resulted in multiple fatalities. After several miles, Bambi was able to locate one severely injured subject, along with three others who were instrumental material witnesses in the case against the driver. K9 Bambi left his working days and now hangs out with his family, which includes six other dogs and four horses.
