Greetings! This spring, I will be participating in the Swim A Mile / Move A Mile for Women with Cancer, and I hope you'll make a contribution to help me increase HOPE and give LIFE to those in need. This inspiring annual fundraiser benefits the work of the Women's Cancer Resource Center, which encompasses all of my values and, I believe, yours too! Since 1986, WCRC has advanced equitable access to essential cancer information, support, and care to make a meaningful and measurable difference in the lives of its clients every day. Each year, it improves the lives of more individuals, especially those in low-income brackets, people of color, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. All of WCRC’s services are provided FREE of charge – and they are 100% funded by charitable giving. Life-changing services include psychotherapy, support groups, art and wellness classes, community based patient navigation, and information and referrals to community resources. I’ve had the honor and pleasure of volunteering and fundraising for WCRC since 2017. Will you join me to change someone’s life and honor a loved one who has persevered through cancer? To learn more, visit www.wcrc.org. To donate, see online payment options at the top of the page, or mail a check with my name in the memo line to: Women's Cancer Resource Center 2908 Ellsworth St. Berkeley, CA 94705 With gratitude, Wendy

Dear Friends, Yes, it's time again for WCRC's Swim A Mile/Move Mile. How could this be? Why so soon? You may be asking why Swim A Mile is happening in April and not in our usual October timeframe. Well, there is a very good reason. To protect the health of our swimmers, volunteers, and staff from increasingly common wildfire smoke during the fall, we have moved this critically important fundraiser to April 30 and May 1.Every year I swim to honor or remember the many people in my life who are living with cancer or who have passed from this disease. First among them was my mother, whose birthday is May 1st. So, our timing this year could not be more perfect as a way for me to honor the person whose battle with breast cancer led me to support and join the board at WCRC eight years ago.I hope you will help me in making a difference for so many people in our community with cancer and their families by contributing to my Swim fundraising.Since 1986, WCRC has provided programs and a network of supportive services for women with cancer in the Bay Area. Dear Friends, This spring, I will be participating in the Swim A Mile for Women with Cancer. The annual event benefits the work of the Women's Cancer Resource Center in Berkeley. Since 1986, WCRC has provided programs and a network of supportive services for women with cancer in the Bay Area. All of its services are FREE and funded entirely by charitable giving. I participated two years ago, when my spouse was recovering from a injury. Learning something new (I failed swim class 3 times in 1st grade) was a great distraction. I also had ovarian cancer 38 years ago. Today, my heart goes out to all I know who have and have had cancer. When I don my goggles on Sunday, I will be thinking of all of them. My aim is to support services with a proven track record of helping women with cancer. Dearest Friends, Earlier this year I started the catch up game of scheduling health check ups. At the top of the list was the dreaded mammogram (ouch!) One mammogram appt led to a follow-up mammogram appt which led to an ultra sound appt. Yep - there was something there. A biopsy revealed a growth, but after experiencing a rough year in 2021, I was ready to be at peace with any outcome, come what may. It was a huge relief to learn that it was benign. I know there are many many folks out there who aren't as fortunate as I am and who need support. I decided to participate in WCRC's Swim A Mile / Move A Mile for Women with Cancer. I hope you'll make a contribution - any amount $5, $10 - would be greatly appreciated. The Swim A Mile /Move A Mile for Women with Cancer is a fun and inspiring annual fundraiser that benefits the work of the Women's Cancer Resource Center. Hi everyone, On May 1st I will be participating in the Swim A Mile/Move A Mile Annual fundraiser for women with cancer. This will be my 7th year. I will be swimming in memory of my Grandma Carol, who passed away 10 years ago after a difficult battle with skin cancer. I will also be swimming for my other grandma, who was recently diagnosed with Lymphoma. This is a very important event to me as a tradition and a way to continue to fight for them and all women who are currently or have previously battled cancer, as well as a time to be able to come together and remember those who have lost their lives to it. If you are willing/able to donate any amount to support my fundraiser & goal of $500, I would GREATLY appreciate it! Although I do understand that we are in very rough times right now which has affected many people financially. So if you are unable to donate, I completely understand, and I ask that we all keep the women around the world battling cancer in our hearts, and keep those who have lost the battle in our memory. As Lennon said, love is the answer! Thank you for taking the time to read this, here is more info about the event below. Dear Friends and Family, Once again, I will be participating in the Swim A Mile / Move A Mile for Women with Cancer, and I hope you'll make a contribution in support of my participation! This year, I will not be swimming, but instead will be physically challenging myself by building up my stamina, so that I can walk uphill for one complete mile. I can walk forever, but have struggled with elevation. Each weekend, I will try and do an uphill walk till I make it.The Swim A Mile /Move A Mile for Women with Cancer is a fun and inspiring annual fundraiser that benefits the work of the Women's Cancer Resource Center.
