Team Fitz

WE are raising money in honor of Eddie Fitzsimmons (our dad) to bring awareness and help contribute financially to the cause. He was diagnosed 5/31/22 and we are beginning our journey and praying it's a long one. The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation (CCF) is the only non-profit organization in North America exclusively dedicated to finding a cure and improving the quality of life for those affected by cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). Approximately 10,000 people in the United States are diagnosed each year with this hard-to-diagnose, difficult-to-treat, fatal type of cancer. Cholangiocarcinoma is a rare but deadly cancer that has very little name recognition or awareness. Due to this lack of visibility, it is often overlooked as symptoms can mimic those of other illnesses and diagnosis comes too late. Conventional cancer treatments remain ineffective against cholangiocarcinoma, and most people diagnosed with advanced disease have less than a 5% chance of surviving at least five years. While almost 2 out of 3 people with bile duct cancer are 65 or older, people of nearly any age can be diagnosed. There has been an alarming increase in the past decade of young individuals being diagnosed in their 20’s, 30’s or 40’s.

Hello all, as many of you know, I am a CCA (Cholangiocarcinoma) Warrior. I am very fortunate I am currently deemed "cancer free" but there are so many others still struggling with this incurable cancer. Won't you join me in support of "Moving for the Cure 2022"? The CCF team offered me invaluable assistance in my early days of diagnosis and I'd like to offer my support however I may. This next week I will be "Moving for the Cure" by recording and reporting on my movement for the week of July 24-30. If you are so inclined, you may donate through the link to this page. I would be honored to receive your support of this worthy cause. I created this team to support Cholangiocarcinoma research and support survivors going through this fight. My Mom, Rose Mayer, has Cholangiocarcinoma and is going through active treatment. This is a very rare and difficult cancer therefore research is so critical. I've pledged to raise $350 for the July 2022 movement event that I'll complete with my family and my Mom (depending on how she feels at the time).
