Heartwood Haven

Help Sophie win with Team Heartwood Haven! A message from Sophie: It's no surprise that I'm a good medalist when it comes to the Jolly Ball Games, so I'm here to use my talents to help my friend Ruby & her piggie squad! My mom loves the animals at Heartwood Haven so much (ALMOST as much as she loves me), so I thought I should use my big velvety bod to help her out. Will you help me raise some money for their cool new digs? I hear there is a SERIOUSLY BIG YARD where I could practice my mad ball skills and mud pits I could play in... you guys, MUD PITS!! Ugh, those pigs are so lucky! Anyways, my goal is to have 3-4 ball sessions per day, to help raise some dough...are you in?! #ballislife About Heartwood Haven Heartwood Haven is located in a park-like setting in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. We are on a mission to end animal cruelty against farmed animals. We primarily work with local animal control to rescue animals from cruelty and abuse cases. These animals are typically former cock-fighting roosters and pigs. Through our successful adoption program, we save hundreds of animals every year. In addition to our rescue work, we also fight for a more compassionate world through our education and advocacy programs. Your generosity and support allow us to continue fighting for the most vulnerable among us.

While we’re new to the Goat Games field this year, our roots run deep. Founded in 1986, we’ve provided refuge for thousands of animals and have educated millions of people each year about just, compassionate vegan living. Meet Team Captain Josie Mae aka “The Resilient.” Josie-Mae was born at a goat dairy farm. Due to an accident, her owner decided that she would never be "useful" there. That turned out to be just her luck! Josie-Mae and her mom, Willow, now live at Farm Sanctuary's New York shelter. Josie-Mae is a peppy and friendly goat, and her prosthetics help her explore and play to her heart’s delight! After a day of action, she loves spending some downtime cuddling with her mom. Sign up today with any activity of your choice to spread awareness and support animals like Josie-Mae! Like all animals, Josie-Mae deserves a chance at happiness. By participating in the Goat Games, you are helping make that a reality. About Farm Sanctuary For 36 years, Farm Sanctuary has provided a place of peace and refuge for thousands of rescued farm animals. Farm Sanctuary fights the disastrous effects of animal agriculture on animals, the environment, social justice, and public health through rescue, education, and advocacy. If you know me, you probably know that I volunteer at Wildwood, an animal sanctuary near my home. Wildwood has been such an amazing place to volunteer at because all of the animals are given such love and outstanding care. The grounds are absolutely stunning and visiting each week is always something I look forward to. All of the animals were rescued from the farming industry in one way or another - some were saved from being slaughtered for meat, others were saved from being tortured for eggs, and others were saved from being exploited for their wool. I have never met such happy and sweet animals as the ones at Wildwood. Even though some animals have only been at Wildwood for less than a year, they already have understood that they are safe and cared for and will approach you for treats or pets. I was devastated a few weeks ago when I heard the news that Wildwood would be closing down. However, due to the outpouring of love and support from the community, Wildwood has announced that they will be able to relocate the farm to a more viable property instead of having to close down! This means that all of the animals will get to stay together and live the rest of their lives with their friends they have become so close to. Now, Wildwood needs our help! We are about 1/4 of the way to affording a new property but we need to fundraise the rest in order to make this dream come true. If you’re able to pitch in even a few dollars, it would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your help!

I'm joining the Goat Games today in memory of Duncan. Duncan perhaps one of the kindest souls who ever walked this earth, crossed over in late 2021. Everyday since then, I have strived to cultivate Duncan's level of centeredness and kindness. Duncan also taught me another important lesson. When he was young, he was fit and remained very active, seemingly experiencing deep joy and gratitude as he took long walks with his brother, swam in his wallow, and napped in the sun. My Goat Games activity is emulating Duncan by staying active and enjoying every minute! Between now and the end of the Goat Games, I will walk 100 miles and I'm hoping to raise $1,500. That's $15 for each mile. Would you consider sponsoring me for one of those miles? I know I have 100 friends who can help! Please will you be one of them? Or--you can join me as an athlete! Pick an activity--it can be ANYTHING! Jumping, swimming, napping! Anything you want. Franklin needs you--will you join me? Everything you need to know about The Goat Games can be found here in the FAQs. Thanks for supporting Franklin, Indraloka and me! We’re all in this together as a team! You can help encourage others by printing our team bib, posting on social media with the #TheGoatGames2022, and showing all the fun and creative ways that you’re going for the gold! Wear Your Team Show your support for Indraloka Animal Sanctuary by repping our official Goat Games team shirt! 100% of all proceeds go directly to our sanctuary! From t-shirts, to hoodies, tank tops, long-sleeves, football jerseys and more! Choose your color and get your team shirt today. Thank you for joining Team Indraloka! The sanctuary provides "heaven on earth" for farm animals that have nowhere else to turn. Our mission is to inform, inspire and empower the community, especially children, on ways in which we can better care for ourselves and the environment while helping animals in need. We advocate for a kind and compassionate lifestyle that protects animals, the earth, and our own health. By participating in the Goat Games you are helping not only the hundreds of rescued farm animals and all who love and care for them, but the thousands of humans who visit them every year! Through our innovative education programs, humans of all ages have the chance to embrace compassion and fall in love with animals like Franklin, our 2022 Goat Games Captain. Franklin was found alone on a busy highway on New Year's Eve. When he was brought to Indraloka, his complete terror of humans kept him on high alert. He wouldn't even lay down to sleep and shook with fright whenever anyone was close. He was weak, fighting pneumonia and a double eye infection that was so severe, it temporarily blinded him. But after just days in the care of our staff, surrounded by love and gentle hands, Franklin's fear lessened and then disappeared completely. Now, he spends his days with 2 new friends, Oreo and Oliver, running in the pastures and playing with no cares at all. His mischievous personality keeps us all on our toes but he loves hugs and snuggles from visitors. By joining Team Indraloka, you have the opportunity to help goats like Franklin and his many friends of all species. Here’s how it works: Register as an athlete for Team Indraloka and commit to run, walk, hike, bike, swim, or do an activity of your choice, anytime between Friday, August 12 through Monday, August 15, 2022. Share your support with friends and family to raise funds for Indraloka. Donate to Indraloka! You can make a general donation to our Goat Games page or find an athlete to support. Either way, you’re making a difference for Franklin and his friends. However you choose to support the Goat Games, please know that your generosity is deeply appreciated. Thank you for your commitment to the animals!

Shrek was our good luck leader for 2021 so we're going to stick with him as our boss goat for the Goat Games 2022. Shrek is the leader of our goat family of twelve. Even though he's the smallest (pygmy), he has the biggest personality. He's the first to greet visitors and demands attention, i.e. endless rubs and kisses! We rescued him right here in SW Florida and he has been an inspiration to everyone who meets him. He embodies the mission of our sanctuary - acceptance, love, and endless snuggles. If you can run, walk, jog, or swim you can join us for the fun -- either with friends and family, or on your own in your backyard or take to the streets - this is a fun way to get outside and have fun while helping raise money for this important fundraiser. It doesn't stop there! You can walk your dog, pick up trash, eat bonbons on your couch, or do anything creative you come up with. As we start our 5th year Little Bear Sanctuary has rescued over 200 farm animals, each one facing an incredibly bleak future if we hadn't intervened. While a lot has changed from the start, Little Bear Sanctuary's mission has remained unwavering: to provide a permanent home for animals in need where they can live their best lives. The funds for this year's Goat Games will be used for the major increase in the monthly overhead required to operate, feed, and house our 200 residents. We're excited for another fun year, and we can’t wait to see the amazing things our athletes and donors will do! Love and gratitude from all of us at Little Bear Sanctuary! Team Wildwood is in it to win it! We’re counting on you to help us bring home the gold at the third annual Goat Games! Whatever sport you choose to do, be it running, hiking, biking or binging your favorite show, you’ll be raising much-needed funds for all the animals at Wildwood. Join as an athlete who raises money OR you can carry the torch as a donor. Either way, YOU are a champion for the animals! You can help encourage others by printing our team bib, posting on social media with the #TheGoatGames2022, and showing all the fun and creative ways that you’re going for the gold! A race to save our sanctuary! This year's Goat Games is hugely important to Wildwood! We have to move from our current location and need funding to purchase or lease a new property. If we're able to secure a new home for our beloved animals, we'll consider that the biggest win of all. If we can't, your support will help us move our animals safely to new sanctuaries where they'll continue to be loved and cared for. Either way, we're counting on you to help us get through this enormous challenge! Now, onto the fun... Our 2022 team captain, Orin, is both an athlete and an inspiring leader. At 14 years of age, he's definitely the senior team captain of our goat herd here at Wildwood. He keeps everyone in line! He has the sweetest personality and is still very agile! He is taking his new job very seriously and demanding excellence from the team – no ifs, ands or buts about it. Well, maybe a few butts. Most of the animals at Wildwood had a pretty rough start in life. Many were rescued from factory farms, terrible abuse and neglect. Now, surrounded by love and good friends, they are free to be their sweet, sensitive, silly selves. Nothing makes the humans here happier than to see them engage in shenanigans and hijinks. About Wildwood Farm Sanctuary & Preserve Wildwood Farm Sanctuary & Preserve is an accredited, 501c3 farm animal sanctuary currently located in Newberg, Oregon. Since 2012, we have provided a safe haven for abused and abandoned farmed animals. We are looking for a new property to continue our mission of promoting compassion and inspiring change.

Hello! Thank you for coming to my page as I join the Safe Haven Rabbit Rescue in #thegoatgames2022. I'm participating to show support of this rescue which saved my bunny, Louise (aka Weezy!) from abuse/neglect. If you have had the pleasure of meeting Weezy you know just how sweet, funny (and treat motivated!) she is!! She was lucky to be saved by her rescuers, but not everybun is so lucky. Rescue and foster is very expensive, time consuming, and emotionally draining work. Any money you can donate towards this cause is very much appreciated by me, the rescue, and of course, the bunnies!! I pledge that I will run 2 miles a day during this time. Weezy pledges to do 2 zoomies a day (though likely will do more!) She will also give 2 boops a day to a passing ankle for a pat on the head. I am hoping to raise (at least) 200 dollars in support of the rescue! Please click the donate button and help our team help the bunnies!! About Safe Haven Rabbit Rescue Since 2003, Safe Haven Rabbit Rescue has provided foster home care for abandoned, abused, and neglected domestic rabbits. All rabbits are spayed/neutered, provided the best medical care available, and receive individualized attention and love of their foster families. Those rabbits who are not eligible for adoption, either due to health, age or temperament remain with us as sanctuary bunnies. Safe Haven continues to develop our foster homes, educational programs, and outreach programs as a means of providing and promoting the best care for rabbits and to inspire action for this often misunderstood and too often abandoned species.

As you know, I have volunteered my time at Wildwood Farm Sanctuary for the last 5 years. Just recently it was announced that the farm will be closing. GREAT NEWS...we are not closing, but moving to a new property. All the animals will get to stay together! We’re launching an important campaign to buy a permanent home for the sanctuary, and I’m registered for a fun event to raise money. I hope you’ll consider supporting me in the 2022 Goat Games. This cause means a lot to me and I’m happy to play a role in the sanctuary’s success. Wildwood is 10 years old and it’s home to 90 animals who were rescued from animal agriculture. Many of them were seized by law enforcement during investigations of horrible cruelty and neglect. At the sanctuary, these animals learn to trust, they form new bonds, and they thrive. The Goat Games brings together accredited sanctuaries from across the country to raise money and awareness. This is our second time participating, and this year our participation is all about securing a future for our sanctuary! After 10 years of operating on our founder’s private property, years of drought are forcing us to find a safer location. With growing concerns about fire dangers and the well’s water capacity, we’re raising money to buy a new property that will serve as a permanent home to the sanctuary. A generous donor has committed about ⅓ of the money we’ll need to secure a property. We still need to raise about $700,000, and that’s a steep climb fit for a mountain goat! We’re committed to doing it, because having a permanent, dedicated location not only ensures a lifelong home for our sanctuary animals, but it will increase our capacity to host events and offer educational programs like tours and day camps. Our goal is $20,000. My personal goal is to raise $1,000 of that. I hope you’ll consider joining us, and I’d love it if you’d share with your friends. Thank you for your support! Jenn Wear Your Team Show your support for Wildwood Farm Sanctuary by repping our official Goat Games team shirt! 100% of all proceeds go directly to our sanctuary! Led by Team Captain Shrek, help Team Little Bear take home the gold! Join as an athlete who raises money OR you can carry the torch as a donor. Either way, YOU are a champion for the animals! Be sure to spread the word to your friends, family and co-workers so they can get in on the fun! Everything you need to know about The Goat Games can be found here in the FAQs. Special In-Person Event: Opening Ceremonies on Friday, August 12, 2022, from 5 PM to 10 PM at Millennial Brewing in Fort Myers, Florida – A percentage of sales from this event will be donated to our team. Stop by our booth and say hello! About Little Bear Sanctuary Little Bear Sanctuary rescues animals in need and gives them a permanent home at the sanctuary where they can live out their best lives. Be sure to spread the word to your friends, family and co-workers so they can get in on the fun! Everything you need to know about The Goat Games can be found here in the FAQs. We’re all in this together as a team! You can help encourage others by printing our team bib, posting on social media with the #TheGoatGames2022, and showing all the fun and creative ways that you’re going for the gold! I put a big sum for my goal, but what’s needed for a new property is so much more, so it’d be awesome to crush it! Consider donating or spreading the word… maybe you or someone you know can help save the sanctuary!
