Imagine being in a wheelchair and not being able to reach your sink. Or being permanently disabled and not being able to get around your own home. These are challenges that permanently disabled people face every day. Over the Rainbow Association (“OTR”) provides affordable accessible housing for disabled people in Illinois. Rather than live in group homes, over 300 people can live their best lives in barrier free apartments owned and sponsored by Over the Rainbow. OTR is an amazing organization that we (Jim and Linda Keith) learned about many years ago through Roberto Mustacchi, a good friend and business colleague. Sadly, Roberto lost a fight with cancer in March 2018. “Team MOOSE!” was born to honor and continue Roberto’s support for OTR and to raise money to support the OTR mission of barrier free housing for disabled persons. Jim will be riding his bicycle September 18th as Captain of Team MOOSE!. We are asking friends, family and business colleagues to support this year’s bicycle fundraiser. So how can you participate? The Triple Bypass • Evergreen to Vail The classic Triple is a bucket-list event across the nation, and for good reason. Leaving from Evergreen, CO, we travel over Juniper, Loveland and Vail pass. Pure gorgeous. All riders receive a limited edition jersey, full support, a big ol’ medal, four aid stations, and finish party including food and beer. A message from Will Gustafson: "Over the Rainbow Association (OTR) is an organization started by my grandparents, Don and Susan Gustafson, along with other parents of physically disabled individuals with the main goal of providing independent, barrier-free living solutions for all individuals with physical disabilities. My uncle, Bob, has cerebral palsy and is a current resident of one of the many homes that OTR provides. With 14 buildings across Illinois, there are still many individuals on the wait-list to achieve the home and life that OTR provides. Each year we ride to help raise money for the resident service program which enriches lives for anyone who is a part of OTR. The residents service program provides resources such as cooking classes, art classes, exercise classes, sports, and so much more that enable a true, barrier-free lifestyle for all.
