*Area of Greatest Need*

The Area of Greatest Need is our top priority as it supports student scholarships and other urgent needs for our students, many of whom are first generation and low income, and therefore disproportionately in need of financial assistance. Your gift to the area of greatest need allows us to move swiftly in response to our community's necessities. It is a vehicle for individuals to make donations that can be used in whichever way is most appropriate and effective. Most of this funding goes toward student scholarships. MassArt has created a dedicated committee to make timely decisions regarding the needs of students as they unfold and change. _____________ Every small act of generosity adds up, and creates the magic that is MassArt. When 300 donors make a gift (of any amount, to any area of the college!) as a part of MassArt #GivingTuesday, they will unlock over $30,000 of bonus funds for MassArt from a group of community leaders! Harris and Ros Barron Immersive Experience Design Studio Support us on Giving Tuesday by making a gift to dedicate this new and exciting studio on campus in the name of Harris and Ros Barron. Harris and Ros, as a team, were instrumental in founding the Studio for Interrelated Media at MassArt in 1970 and sending the program on a trajectory of innovation, live event production and immersive theater. Sparked by the creative direction of ZONE, the experimental theater group Harris and Ros invented alongside collaborator Alan Finneran in 1968, SIM continues to evolve. The Immersive Experience Design Studio will incorporate the newest forms of visual creativity, story-telling, entertainment, research, and problem-solving. Immersive Experience technologies, including all aspects of XR (Extended Reality – virtual, augmented, and mixed reality) will be the highlight of the studio. MassArt artists will be able to leverage their talents as visual artists, civic activists, and makers. This new studio will be a centralized location where students, faculty and staff from all departments will be able to demonstrate the cutting edge of technology, engage with the latest research and professionals in the field, share knowledge, collaborate on ambitious projects, and showcase their work. We saw the number of students who are food insecure increase by 16% last Spring, and this resource is being utilized more than ever as students return to campus, while still feeling the financial effects of the pandemic. It is currently essential that The Shelf has ample resources. When a student does not know where their next meal is coming from, they cannot focus on their education. You have the power to ensure that they have a selection of food available to them for free. STUDENT TESTIMONIALS: "You are supporting needy ones like me in this hard situation. I cannot thank you enough for this help." "It was always quite comforting to know that The Shelf was an option for me as a student on and off campus. This resource has allowed me to seek out food knowing I would not be judged or have my circumstances questioned in any way. Student Development had always taken extra care to provide me privacy whenever I needed it, and support beyond the pantry when necessary, and it allowed me to build relationships with administrators as well as know my needs as a person and student were constantly being considered." _____________ Every small act of generosity adds up, and creates the magic that is MassArt. Jewelry and Metalsmithing

Jewelry and Metalsmithing is participating in MassArt #GivingTuesday! Make a gift through this page to support Jewelry and Metalsmithing directly. Through the creation of jewelry, functional objects, and sculpture, students in the Jewelry & Metalsmithing program give form to their artistic vision. Along with essential techniques like construction, casting, forming, stone setting, and computer aided design (CAD), coursework is offered in all major metalworking techniques. Students also learn to construct jewelry from both base and precious materials while learning how objects are informed by their social, cultural, and historical contexts. The Enrique Rosa Scholarship honors Enrique Rosa, who has “raised” generations of MassArt students, staff and faculty. For the past 26 years, Enrique has served the college as an Institution Security Officer IV in Public Safety, and as we like to call him “The Heart of MassArt”. He is often the person who is taking your picture for your ID. And when you see him after that he is the person who makes you feel safe, stops by to visit, shares his warmth, encouraging words and always has something to make you laugh. _____________ Every small act of generosity adds up, and creates the magic that is MassArt.
