Kandice B. Francis

Kandice has been happily married to Ray Francis for 15 years, and they share a beautiful 13-year-old daughter, Kenzi. Kandice is co-owner of her family’s business, HOPSCO, and she is a dedicated volunteer at the Cancer Center. Since 2019, she has served on the planning committee for the annual Gala and this summer she helped plan and launch a new Cancer Center event, Big Brims & Healthy Skin. During Mardi Gras, she rides with the Krewe of Hyacinthians. Kandice is fundraising in memory of her beloved Granny, Yvette G. Boudreaux. Kandice says, “Terrebonne General | Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center holds a very special place in my heart. In October of 2017 my Granny, at the age of 81, was diagnosed with Primary Peritoneal Carcinoma…While the days spent receiving treatment were long, we made some of the best memories. I will always be grateful for the staff at the Cancer Center for the love and compassion during that time. Although she may have lost her battle, her courage to fight will live on!”

Debbie B. Chiasson

Debbie is a Mardi Gras lover! She’s been riding in Houma’s Krewe of Aquarius for over 20 years. She loves that the Carnival season is a time of year that you can stop what you’re doing and enjoy family time catching the parades. When it’s not Mardi Gras, you can find her working at Louis Mohana Furniture, reading in her spare time, or spending time with family. Debbie is married with 4 children, 5 grand-dogs, and 2 grand-cats. Debbie is honored to be a part of the 2023 Royal Krewe because so many people close to her heart have been affected by cancer, and she is dedicated to giving back. Her stepmother recently passed away after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, so Debbie is raising funds for the Cancer Center as a tribute to all of her friends and loved ones. Jason "The Cajun Ninja" Derouen

Jason is a man of many talents – a 4th degree black belt in Taekwondo, a brilliant home chef, and a successful business owner. Judging by his social media presence, you would never guess that he melted a plastic spatula while making his very first roux. Luckily, things improved from there and now Jason has over a million people following him for his Cajun cooking expertise and the occasional cameo from his wife, Misty and his beautiful daughters, Isabella (10), Zoey (8), and Juliet (6). When asked why he is taking the time to be part of the Royal Krewe and give back to the Cancer Center, Jason said, “It’s one of those things that hits people really hard. The last thing anyone should have to worry about while fighting cancer is how they are going to pay for it. If I am able, I try to give back.”

Courtney Carrere Sanford

Courtney is proud to be involved in The Gala Goes to Mardi Gras as a member of the planning committee as well as a Royal Krewe member. She is fundraising in honor of everyone affected by cancer, but especially her mother, who won her battle with breast cancer. Courtney has a passion for getting involved in local events and giving back to the community. She credits her great group of friends for always finding ways to give back and help others. When she’s not volunteering, she loves spending time with her family. She and her husband, Joey, have two children: Kayden and Taylor. They love to get away to the camp to go fishing and enjoy quiet weekends. When asked why she has chosen to support the Cancer Center, she says, “I watched my mother go through breast cancer, and saw how having a local support system helped her get through it.” Something you may not know about Courtney is that she has always wanted to be a famous country singer!
