Cancer does not discriminate. When I found a lump in my breast in July of 2021, it was the beginning of a journey I never dreamed I would have to take. I decided the best way to handle it was with a positive attitude and by doing lots of research. During this quest for information, I found a breast cancer resource page and that was my introduction to Little Pink Houses of Hope. I had a double mastectomy in October of 2021, but my breast cancer journey has been mild compared to other breast cancer patients and survivors I have met. My mission now is to help breast cancer patients navigate this journey. Little Pink Houses of Hope gave me and my husband a life-changing one week retreat, life-long friends, and volunteer opportunities with a foundation we truly believe in. I want to pay it forward and help other families have this amazing experience during a very frightening time in their lives! Please help me meet my fundraising goal and go from PINK hair back to RED! Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity in donating to Little Pink Houses of Hope!

On October 23, 2022, I received news you never want to hear, my Mom had been diagnosed with breast cancer. My Mom? No way. This was information you never expect your own Mom to share with you. Our family is no strangers to LPHOH. My Mom, Dad, wife, and I had the privilege to be volunstars at the Sedona Retreat in 2020. Lauren has since been a volunstar for the second time in Central Coast, California. My Mom has been a volunstar on 3 separate occasions and my mother and father in law have directed and volunteered on many retreats. LPHOH was part of our lives before Mom was diagnosed and now will forever be an even greater part of our lives. The experience of being a Volunstar is truly life changing and a week I will never forget. There is something special about making each day completely about a “stranger” and before you know it, their young boys feel like your younger brothers. When “Wigging Out” begins, Mom should be around half way through her chemo treatment plan. If Mom can crush chemo and all that still lies ahead, wearing a pink wig for 13 days is easy. Why? My Mom."

My mom died from breast cancer in January of this year (2022). She spent her last and 50th birthday at a Little Pink Houses of Hope retreat in Sedona, AZ. My sister and I were able to spend a few of the days with her there, and the time we were able to relax and make memories will never be forgotten. My mom, Tracy "Gypsy" Beach, was an incredible woman and a fierce advocate for breast cancer research, programs, and support. Even in her final days, she was supporting other woman on a Facebook page- sharing resources, sending them care packages, and encouraging them on their journeys. She never stopped advocating for preventative care, donating money during October to organizations that actually support people, and truly living life. These retreats are exactly what she believes in: time with family, finding joy, focusing on love and life experiences, and prioritizing self-care. I will never, ever forget the wonderful experience Little Pink Houses of Hope gave to her during her last year and I want to continue her legacy by raising money for other families to experience the same.

I support Little Pink Houses of Hope in honor of and tribute to my sister Mary who battled this disease for a dozen years of her life, yet she remained positive and focused on the good parts of her life. She was always compassionate to others and even though she had her challenges, she was always concerned about others who had it tougher. She handled her journey with the most positivity and dignity, and I could only wish that if I were faced with what she was faced with, I could be as gracious. Her faith was strong and carried her through. Little Pink gave Mary a week of joy and introduced her to new sisters in the battle that became her friends. I can never repay enough for the memories of her smile during the retreat week so this Wig Out is a small token toward giving back to ensure other families can have a Little Pink experience.

Two years ago this month I was still working on being able to lift my arms above my head as I was recovering from a double mastectomy. Breast cancer is terrible, exhausting, and overwhelming. And it affects the whole family. After an intense, taxing year dealing with cancer, our family received an unbelievable gift from Little Pink Houses of Hope --> a free week-long retreat. Yep, free. No strings attached. A week away. Accommodations., meals, and activities. Time to connect. Joy. Laughter. Rest. Memories. Our girls *still* ask if we can go back to Florida. After that, I also had the joy of volunteering with Little Pink on a retreat and got to witness the power of this gifted time away in other families' lives. I'm just here to say - Little Pink's gift of time, memories, and rest has powerful and lasting impact on families. It's more than a free vacation. During an awful, awful time in their lives, Little Pink showers breast cancer families with love and support, which empowers them to keep walking the grueling journey with cancer.I'm overjoyed to be able to raise my arms high over my head again as I cheer on other breast cancer families. I want more families to experience this time of healing and connection that Little Pink provides. Will you help me support Little Pink Houses of Hope so they can continue to offer families this wonderful gift!?My goal is to raise $2500+. I believe we can make this happen and help bring a little bit of goodness and hope to some more breast cancer families.

Both my mother and my sister are current breast cancer survivors. I also have an employee - Angie and many friends who have or are traveling this breast cancer journey. I have been involved with Little Pink Houses of Hope for several years helping with fundraising, projects with other Allstate Insurance agents in the Triad area of NC. I was fortunate to be asked to serve as a Board Member in 2020 and am currently serving in that capacity now. After seeing the administration and business side of the organization , I was asked to serve as a Volunstar for the 2022 Carolina Beach retreat. This was so special to be actually expeirence being a part of that loving embrace LPHOH offers all the participants. Getting to know the participants, their spouses, and children was very special.

I have been a volunteer with LPHOH in many capacities for several years. During this time, I was honored to serve as volun-Star at two different retreats at Carolina Beach. While serving these breast cancer families, I was able to see first hand the joy on not only the kids' faces, but on their parents' faces as they were able to as a family step away from the "real world" of cancer, and to be able to step into the world of a stress free, all expense paid vacation. Families are able to spend quality time experiencing fun activities with other cancer survivors and their families, or they can just hang out and explore on their own. The memories made will last a lifetime; since for some families, this will be their last trip together, ever. Time is so precious, and by supporting the LPHOH's mission, I feel like these families are being given more time - where everything is taken care of so they can just be together and forget about cancer for a little while.

In 2020, early in the pandemic, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. I was 43 at the time, a busy working mom with two kids at home doing virtual school. It was a scary time and I was in some kind of treatment or surgery recovery from May 2020 to March 2021. Since then, I continue to have regular pet scans, blood work and follow-ups. I take medications that make me tired, I have low levels in my blood work, and sometimes life feels heavy, but I never give up. I continued working and walking my way through cancer. After finishing treatment, I've refocused my life on strength and healing. In June 2022, my family had the opportunity to spend a magical week in Sedona, Arizona, with Little Pink Houses of Hope. The volunteers are amazing, many of them cancer thrivers and survivors themselves. It was an opportunity for my kids to see others kids who've had to deal with the scary reality of losing their mom. It was just so nice to have time together, hike in the beautiful red rocks and have fun experiences with others walking a similar path. It truly was a healing experience. In addition to my own experience with breast cancer, my grandmother died from metastatic breast cancer a few years ago and while I was in treatment, one of my cousins also died from metastatic breast cancer. I believe organizations like Little Pink Houses of Hope offer amazing opportunities to those of us living with this deadly disease every day. Prior to my breast cancer diagnosis, I was a healthy individual with many blessings. I've had a 20-year career educating and supporting foster and adoptive families as the editor of Fostering Families Today. The stories that the young people who've experienced foster care are some of the most profound and brave. Throughout my treatment, I thought often about the challenges they faced and it helped me be brave too. I never quit working throughout my treatment process because I also believe in the important work I do and the importance of impacting positively the lives of others. I hope my participation in this is a beautiful and fun way to meld my work and personal world together.

As most of you know, I lost my oldest sister Linda to breast cancer as well as a very close colleague and friend. Now..... a very dear friend of mind just had a double mastectomy. I have been volunteering for Little Pink for 11 years now. Every year that I do, brings on a new experience. I have met so many wonderful moms, husbands and their children. Many I still keep in touch with. I have also made friends with other volunteers over the years as well, as many of us return annually for the retreats. Little Pink gives families a free week long vacation and respite from their cancer treatments and everything else they are dealing with. I love seeing their smiles and the stress disappear as each day goes by. By the end of the week, I see a renewed energy and hope for not only mom but the entire family! I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016. Between the doctors visits, testing, chemo, and surgeries it was a bit of a whirlwind. I don’t remember a whole lot… And neither do my girls, they were pretty young. Fast forward to 2021, I was re-diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. This time is different, as I will be on some sort of infusion for the rest of my life, no matter how long or short it will be. My girls are now 9 and 12, so it’s a lot more real for them this time. I own my own business, but with the neuropathy it’s hard for me to do. My husband has a fantastic job that has great health insurance so we are blessed. Little Pink Houses of Hope allowed me to take my family on a weeks vacation with no doctors appointments, no chemo and no big expenses other than our airfare. My girls got to see a relaxed week at the beach and experience so many great new things. It made me feel like I could give some thing back to my family for all the time I’ve taken from them. This fundraiser is a way for me to help other breast cancer families take their vacation. Little Pink Houses of Hope is going to start helping families with their travel expenses! Please help me hit my goal of $1500 for Little Pink!! A part of our hearts will always be in North Carolina

My wife is WHY I am Wigging out for HOPE! That, and we attended a Little Pink Houses of Hope Retreat in April, 2022 at Carolina Beach where we met, participated with, made new friends and cried our way through a week with 58 others, representing 11 other families plowing through the same journey as we were. We were the oldest participants.I was shocked to learn that our breast cancer journey was far different from others in the group and that there were so many women under the age of 40, with young children, at stage three and four. Young husbands with beautiful children hanging on their legs and cuddled in their arms not knowing how to reach out for help and a friend. Some of these husbands with tiny tots broke down on the last night around a glowing campfire on the beach thankful for a weeks 'vacation' with his family, quite possibly the last vacation they might have together. The least I and my wife can do is wear a pink wig or two to raise money for young families to cover expenses to an all expense paid week long vacation that might be their last . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I am not new to Little Pink Houses of Hope. I have known Jeanine for many years...I was there when she held the first meeting to talk about her vision. So initially, my work with LPHOH was because of my connection to Jeanine. After I changed careers, I found I have more time to volunteer and be more involved with the work of LPHOH. Little Pink House of Hope (LPHH) provided our family with the opportunity to pause and appreciate life. My breast cancer diagnosis disrupted my life. My family’s life. Fun activities, familiar routines, and life in general were overshadowed and replaced with moms’ surgeries, treatment and recovery. Thankfully through this difficult time we found blessings along the way. LPHH was one of those blessings. I am grateful for this ‘retreat’ which was a vacation planned for our family to relax, enjoy and create memories. I will forever cherish this experience, the memories created, and the people that provided us with this opportunity. I was not only fortunate to be chosen for this remarkable experience, but I was able to take advantage of the opportunity because we were able to afford the travel expenses associated with the trip. Some families cannot. This fundraiser is new this year and will directly help Little Pink cover the cost of travel for families who are in need. I will be ‘Wigging Out’ to raise these funds by wearing this pink wig, which to be honest, I’m not fond of! However, the kids have been a big part of this experience, encouraged me to do it, and are also looking forward to ‘wigging out’ with me. I encourage you to explore all Little Pink has to offer, their mission and participant stories so you can see the graciousness that was reflected upon my family and I, filling us with hope in a difficult time. Please help me reach my fundraising goal to assist Little Pink House of Hope in extending this experience to more people. My husband and I were ecstatic when we received the news that we were selected to attend a Little Pink retreat. Then dread set in when we were looking at the cost of travel to the retreat. We were invited to attend the couples retreat in Buxton, NC and would have to fly and rent a car. On top of medical bills and everyday living expenses, we knew we couldn't afford to travel. For 10 months, we had lived our lives on cancer’s terms. Going to chemo, doctors’ appointments, surgery, and radiation had become are new normal. We knew we needed this trip to finally get our lives "back to normal." I reached out to a local organization who was able to pay for our flights, making the trip possible. The retreat was life changing. We went with the perspective of connecting as a couple again without cancer in the center of our world and left with our hearts filled. Not only did we reconnect as a couple, but we met other survivor couples who made significant impacts in our lives. We were able to connect with people who have similar stories and understood everything we experienced on our cancer journey. The friendships we made will last a lifetime and I want other cancer survivors to have the same opportunity we did. That is why I am asking you to give to Little Pink Houses of Hope … so other families can experience what we experienced without another financial burden.

There have been many people in my life who have battled breast cancer. When I originally got involved with Little Pink, I did so to honor my grandmother, Mama Jewel. She had breast cancer and a double mastectomy when she was fairly young and before the advances in medicine that we know today. I have been a supporter of Little Pink from the very beginning, first as a volunteer and then as an employee for a period of time. Little Pink will always hold a special place in my heart for all of the families that I have had the opportunity to meet through the program. EVERY donation helps-no matter the amount! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know first hand the impact these retreats and your donations have on our participants. It overflows my cup year after year!

My family is beyond proud of Jeanine and this organization and the blessings it has been able to bring to so many families going through a breast cancer diagnosis. Please join me in supporting Little Pink so it can continue to reach more families and continue to bless both families and volunteers in its mission.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 41 and my children were 15, 13, 10 & 7. After 2 years of surgeries, chemo, radiation, & immunotherapies, we were chosen to attend a Little Pink Houses of Hope retreat. It was such an uplifting, healing, and empowering experience. That week gave our family time to relax, have fun, and meet other families who understood exactly what we were going through. It was a tremendous gift to see my kids play and make friends with other kids who shared their experiences, and for my husband to have a break from caring for me and connect with other men. They thought of every detail and spoiled us all week. It was truly a blessing and an opportunity I wish every family impacted by breast cancer could experience. I have chosen to be a part of Wigging Out for Hope to give back to this organization that made such a difference in my life, and in memory of 3 of the women from my retreat.

I am a breast cancer survivor! I was able to attend a Little Pink retreat in 2021, right after finishing treatment. At the time, I felt like I was the only one going through this horrible disease. At the retreat, I got to meet other women who were going through the same treatment, some a lot worse than me. It was so comforting being surrounded by so much love and being pampered for a whole week!!

In 2015 I became aware of the Little Pink Retreat in Emerald Isle. A family member was going through treatment and I had known several women that had fought the fight. My first thought was this is great; a week's paid vacation! So I got involved. I attended the final dinner of the week and listened to the families talk about their experiences. I knew then this was so much more than a week's vacation. It was a week to not feel alone, a week to shed a few worries, a week to reconnect with family, a week to make new friends, a week to feel hopeful, a week to feel accepted, a week for family members to connect with others having a similar experience, a week of compassion, a week of love. I am so excited as always to support this amazing organization. ASK ME ABOUT LITTLE PINK!

I have supported Little Pink Houses of Hope since the very beginning when Jeanine approached us at Elon about having a pink football game with our cheerleaders and dance team. Her story made an impression on me and I felt drawn to help this organization ever since. I am amazed at how it has grown and the difference it has made for so many families affected by breast cancer. If you are so inclined, please donate and help me reach my goal of raising at least $1,500 for this amazing cause. Any amount is appreciated!

I love to give back to my community, and when asked to help with a Little Pink Houses of Hope retreat in the Grand Haven and Tri-Cities area I said absolutely! Then I was asked to help with 'Wigging Out For HOPE', and I said let's do it!! I'm always up for some fun! Why would I want to wear a pink wig out in public you ask? I'm doing this in memory of my sister-in-law Barb, and all the women I know battling breast cancer. I'm doing this for the men in these women's lives, their children, and extended family members. It gives me a lot of satisfaction to help volunteer, and raise money for this organization that does so much for breast cancer families. They just simply deserve this time with their families, and I want to give it to them. If you see me out and about give me a honk, and if you dare be seen with the lady in PINK... I would love to take a picture with you and me in my wig. I will be showing/selling homes in my wig so don't be alarmed. Everyone that donates will get their name put into a drawing for a Amazon gift card to be drawn at the end of February. If you have $1 or $5 dollars to donate, I will take it. Little Pink Houses of Hope will be grateful for any amount you can donate. Tell your friends! We appreciate you, and your support.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer December 2021. After a partial mastectomy and 4 weeks of radiation in 2022, I am now cancer free! Little pink houses of hope then selected my family and I to attend the Oak Island, NC retreat. I could never express how special that trip was or how I have made friendships with other survivors and Volunstars that I am sure will last a lifetime. This is my way to say thank you to little pink and hopefully give someone else like me the opportunity to attend one of these life changing retreats. Can’t wait to raise money for little Pink thorough Wigging it out for HOPE!
