Campus Ministry Retreats

Campus Ministry retreats are spiritually rejuvenating, community building, and give students a platform to who they are and how they want to respond to the world around them. The SEARCH Retreat is an incredible example of this. As we share the SEARCH experience for the 34th year, students will have opportunities to discover something new, remember things they may have lost, and perhaps find new questions that drive a continuing journey in their lives. This year, the SEARCH Retreat will be from March 24th - March 26th at the Holy Transfiguration Retreat Center in Dalton, PA. Our team of staff and student leaders have been working hard and praying for this upcoming retreat. Here are some examples of what your generosity could assist with: $15 covers one student meal $40 covers the cost of a student's deposit $75 covers one student's meals for the weekend $100 covers the snack table $150 covers the cost of a room for the weekend $3,000 would cover the housing for the SEARCH Retreat! Chamber Singers

The Marywood University Chamber Singers have established themselves as one of the premier college choirs in Northeast Pennsylvania. Two-time national finalists for The American Prize in Choral Performance, Chamber Singers were one of six choirs nationwide to be given awards in the collegiate division of the 2022 American Prize Competition. Chamber Singers were also invited to be the featured choir at the 2021 National Meeting of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities. Their performance for that event earned them an invitation to be the featured choir again at the 2022 ACCU National Meeting in Washington, DC. The Chamber Singers are hoping to continue their tradition of touring annually. Their concert tours give the students a musical and educational experience that cannot be replicated in any other way. The tours also help foster a broader awareness of Marywood University and its performing arts programs in other parts of the country. Prior tours have allowed them to perform concerts at venues such as Steinway Hall and St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City, Faneuil Hall in Boston, Yale University's Marquand Chapel, and Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal. In May 2023, the ensemble is planning a tour that will allow them to perform in Atlanta, Louisville, and several venues in Tennessee. In order to allow all members of Chamber Singers to experience these travel opportunities, they need your support. Chamber Singers is committed to the principle that cost should not prevent any student from experiencing these concert tours. "You never know the impact you have on the lives of others, God uses you to light someone's path" An anonymous donor from Joey's hometown would like to establish an annual scholarship in memory of Joey Monaghan '21. From an early age, Joey demonstrated kindness and shined as the impactful and wonderful individual that we all knew. The donor of this scholarship would like to honor Joey's memory and legacy by continuing to shine Joey's light on others. If this project raises $5,000 today during Giving Day, the donor will make an additional $5,000 gift to establish this scholarship so that it can start impacting the lives of Marywood students in the near future. Below are some words from Sue Duffy (Joey's Mom): Joey cherished his Marywood Family and had the best of times and best of memories while attending Marywood University. He was a scholar/athlete and played on the Marywood Basketball Team. Ever since Joey was the age of 5, his love for the game of basketball blossomed - Basketball was life for him. You could always find Joey at the courts, otherwise known as his other home. Joey got his degree in Exercise Science/Nutrition. He was inducted to the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society; this society honors students who maintain a cumulative 3.4 or better GPA while lettering in a varsity sport and securing endorsements from Athletics and faculty. He also served in the Marywood Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Joey was a leader on and off the court, after Joey graduated in May, 2021, he landed his dream job with the Philadelphia 76ers! Joey was in the field of his dreams -- BASKETBALL!! Joey was super healthy and a work-out fanatic - so it came as a devastating shock when he was diagnosed with a very rare sarcoma in July of 2022. Sadly, a cure was not to be and he left this world on September 22, 2022. “22” was Joey’s number - his uniform number - and now his last day and year on earth was “22” - no coincidence. Joey is missed immensely for his super positive attitude, corny jokes, always willing to help personality, and giving back to the community. Any donations towards this cause are greatly appreciated. - Sue Duffy(Joey's Mom) ____________________________________________________________________________________________ CHALLENGE ALERT!
