St. Jude The Apostle has nominated Mrs. Erin Abbott! Erin Abbott is truly a beacon of hope for the St. Jude the Apostle School community and has been since enrolling her eldest daughter, Olivia, in kindergarten for the 2019/2020 school year. As an educator herself, Erin knows the importance of parental involvement and support for the success and vitality of a school. From that very first year, Erin and her family jumped head first into doing all they could to support St. Jude the Apostle School. Erin has been very involved in our Parent Community Association for the past 4 years, and is currently the vice president for the organization. Erin has also volunteered as the classroom parent for both of her daughter’s classes over the years. Olivia and Ellie always know that their mom will plan the absolute best class parties! St. Madeleine Sophie School has nominated Manisha and Matthew Mendleson! From the very beginning the Mandlesons were eager to truly partner in their son’s education, as well as assisting our school in whatever way they could. The Mendleson family were true supporters of all we did during Jai’s three years with us. Matt is one of those rare individuals who would be the first one there to help set up and the last one to leave after cleaning up. He was even known to set up the Parish Center for 300 people entirely on his own, tables AND chairs! What sets the Mendlesons apart is that their commitment to SMS did not end when Jai graduated. Matt continues to come to our assistance by helping us dispose of outdated technology and he happily comes every summer to help move furniture, no matter how many stairs are involved nor how high the temperature is. Jai and Matt have even been seen covertly sweeping snow off of staff cars during a winter storm. Manisha and Matt continue to generously support us with their time, talent and resources, despite Jai now being in high school and they embody our patroness’ words of Be Humble, Be Simple and Bring Joy to Others. No matter what the task, they help with smiles, a joke and they stay until every job is done. St. Mary's Institute has nominated Sara Boerenko! Sara is a parent of a first grade student at St. Mary's, Sara has gone above and beyond as school volunteer and advisor. She is an active member of the Parent Ambassador Team, always willing to lend a hand to whatever needs to be done for the betterment of the students and the school. She currently is the chairperson of our annual Spaghetti Supper, which is making a comeback after being shut down due to the pandemic. This event has always been the biggest fundraiser for the school and is a major undertaking. Whether providing books for "Reading Buddies" or pizza and snacks for class parties, Sara is always the go to person to make it happen. She is quick to organize and make sure the school is well equipped for whatever is needed. In her professional role as Montgomery County Public Health Director, her advice and recommendations were invaluable to the principal and the school as it navigated its way through the COVID pandemic. She was in constant communication with the principal and school nurse, always willing to give advice and help to monitor the situation regarding the spread of the coronavirus.
