#EmbraceEquity The monthly cost of period products has nearly doubled in the last several years. In 2020, the average cost of a menstrual cycle in the U.S. was $13.25. Now, in 2023, the average cost of a month of period products is $20 (1). The global cost of living has skyrocketed, without wages rising to match, and we are seeing more people than ever struggling to meet their basic needs, including their period care products. Pledge a period today to help eradicate period poverty by covering the cost for those who can’t. When you donate to The Pad Project, you’re helping to provide period care products to organizations worldwide. Honor the women in your lives by supporting the menstrual health of individuals and families across the globe. Source 1

Happy Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Day On May 28th, Menstrual Hygiene Day is celebrated to break the stigma around menstruation. Since its inception in 2013, this movement has grown into a global coalition working towards the shared goal of menstrual equity. Did you know… Less than half of adolescent girls in India are aware of menstruation before their first period (Sharma et al, 2020); Only 46% of Kenyan girls and women in rural areas and 65% in urban areas have access to and use disposable pads; close to 20% are forced to use proxy products like toilet paper, pieces of cloth, and other natural materials (Menstrual Health Country Snapshot - Kenya, 2023) 1 in 4 U.S. teens has missed class because they lacked access to menstrual products (State of the Period 2021) Almost 2 in 5 U.S. teens are often or sometimes unable to do their best school work because they lack access to menstrual products (State of the Period 2021) These are not just numbers. They are untold stories. At The Pad Project, we believe that no one should miss out on opportunities because of a lack of information, products, or a supportive environment for managing menstruation. #WeAreCommitted to end menstrual stigma. Period. To celebrate Menstrual Hygiene Day, we are raising funds to support our network of partners in the U.S. and globally. In the U.S., we partner with 55+ non-profits, public schools, and individuals in 26 states. We have provided 465,000+ products to those in need. Internationally, we partner with 20 grassroots organizations across 12 countries in South Asia, Africa, and Latin America. We have reached over 111,750+ girls and women with critical menstrual health information and products. We proudly advocate for more equitable menstrual health policies locally, regionally, and globally directly and through our partners. Here are two of many testimonials: “This project is the most impactful student service that is provided here at East Troy High School. It allows students facing period poverty to access the products they need, leading to more self-confidence, personal comfort, and improved school performance..” - Student, Pads for Schools grant recipient “No one in my family and friend circle knows about menstruation. They feel ashamed about their period. I want to change that in my village. After this education workshop, I feel empowered to talk about menstruation. I want to tell everyone that periods are not bad and you should be proud of your body” - –Grade 8 Student, Pakistan #WeAreCommitted to ensuring access to menstrual products and education for people everywhere.
