Imagine a community where people with and without disabilities have regular opportunities to develop meaningful, mutual friendships. Imagine a community where disability inclusion means physical access and the invitation to actively participate and lead. Imagine a community where each person is accepted and celebrated – just as they are. Imagine Community Differently In L'Arche, people with and without intellectual disabilities (IDD) share life and friendships in a community strengthened by faith. We believe everyone should have space to build a vibrant, fulfilling life. L’Arche Frederick brings the power of community to life so people with IDD can thrive. We host inclusive social events open to people of all ages. Our community home welcomes adults with and without IDD to live together as peers and friends. Meaningful relationships, individualized supports, and a culture of belonging are at the core of what makes L'Arche one of the most unique organizations in the country. Looking forward, we envision a community of life-long homes for adults with IDD, ultimately responding to the persistent need for inclusive housing options and contributing to a meaningful, dignified life for all. Beyond just a place to call home, L’Arche cultivates a home life where nightly meals are shared, holiday traditions grow, and housemates with and without IDD build relationships across their differences. Our philosophy of community hinges on mutual relationships of care and support where people with IDD are not just cared “for”, but cared “about”- and this mindset permeates our long-standing community events and new residential program. You can make a difference in the lives of neighbors with IDD $70 covers material & food costs for one inclusive social event hosted by L'Arche. $100 fills the tank of the L'Arche van for one month, enabling reliable transportation for people who will live in the L'Arche home. $240 provides training costs for one house assistant, ensuring residents receive the highest quality care and personalized support. MISSION As members of the International Federation of L’Arche, our shared mission is to create homes where the gifts of people with intellectual disabilities are revealed through mutually transforming relationships; to embrace diverse cultures working together to build a more human society; and to respond to the changing needs of our members throughout a lifetime of adult care. You can help us create sustainable and meaningful places of belonging for people with intellectual disabilities. Support L'Arche and Imagine Community Differently!
Why am I joining the Unity Campaign as a fundraiser for COIPP? It's because I believe that every child deserves an equitable chance to grow and thrive. Unfortunately, children impacted by the incarceration of a parent are often overlooked and not targeted for interventions that help with their coping and resilience. COIPP has the answer for them! Although providing basic human needs and reducing suffering is not a unique philanthropic endeavor, COIPP is the only organization in the Frederick Region that specifically targets the needs of children and families impacted by incarceration of a loved one. A donation today will provide opportunities and direct support to children suffering from the trauma of having a loved one incarcerated.
Established in 1999, the Fund relies solely on donations from individuals and businesses in our community, along with our major events, the Pink Ribbon 5K and the Pink Ribbon Gala. We are celebrating our 25th Anniversary this year, and have raised over $3.5 million. All money received goes to direct patient care. There are no administrative fees and all money stays local. Our mission is to provide the very best technology and services for the early detection and treatment of breast cancer in the Frederick Community. Over the years we have provided our community with the newest technology in mammography and MRI detection for breast cancer, funded the Medical and Oncology suite at the James M. Stockman Cancer Center, and were instrumental in the development of the Center for Breast Care at Frederick Health. Recently we funded a Research Nurse Navigator to bring clinical trials to the Breast Center, and we are working toward the building of a Boutique for the Breast Center to supply patients with all necessary prosthetics and accessories post surgery or along with other treatments. We are excited for the possibilities of bringing even more new developments in the area of Precision Medicine and clinical trials. Donations to the Hurwitz Breast Cancer fund support the entire Frederick community and provide the best available early detection and treatment for all Frederick county residents regardless of their economic status.

Our mission is carried out by fostering a collaborative network of Frederick farmers, community organizations, businesses, community members, schools and institutions united in the shared objective of promoting local agriculture and enhancing the health and well-being of all our Frederick residents from the youngest and oldest among us.
Adult Literacy is a Survival Skill ... Knowing How to Read, Write, and Communicate Saves Lives ... Yet ... more than 25,000 Frederick County adults lack the literacy skills needed to function in society. This number includes people who are learning English and native English speakers who are all our neighbors. Literacy is listening, speaking, reading, writing, navigating and belonging. Without knowing how to read, how can someone understand directions on a medicine bottle or on a map? Without knowing how to write, how can someone fill out a job application? Without knowing English, how can a parent respond to a message from their child's school? Many of our students fall within the population of Marylanders mentioned in the ALICE Report. Despite working multiple, low-paying jobs, these adults and their families can’t make ends meet. The COVID-19 crisis has added to their plight. How do they keep their jobs, support their children's schooling, and access health resources? The Literacy Council of Frederick County (LCFC) is providing a lifeline for these people in many ways by teaching everyday life skills. Blessings in a Backpack mobilizes communities, individuals, and resources to provide food on weekends for school-aged children across Frederick County who might otherwise go hungry. Our vision is that every school-aged child in America has the nourishment needed to learn and grow. As a leader in the movement to end childhood hunger, Blessings in a Backpack strives to ensure that children do not go hungry on weekends by empowering individuals and communities to take action. Blessings in a Backpack provides weekend food for approximately 4,200 children in Frederick County. Food insecurity knows no bounds and doesn’t discriminate, leaving over 15,000 FCPS children affected daily; 1 in 3 students does not know where their next meal is coming from. Blessings closes the weekend nutrition gap for children who are fed on weekdays by their school’s free and reduced-price meal programs.

City Youth Matrix provides opportunities for youth to flourish through enrichment programs. We help children and parents overcome the barriers that prevent them from experiencing any youth music, art, athletic, drama, or vocational program in Frederick. In general, the greatest barriers that exist are registration costs and transportation. We meet any costs necessary for recreational programs, as well as the more costly club and travel organizations. We have a fleet of volunteer drivers that are vetted and screened, insured, and fully trained. We have a family empowerment program that helps support the sustainability of our values. Even though our core mission is to provide opportunities for youth, the parent/guardian must be part of the City Youth Matrix experience. Our family empowerment program is closely related to the ALICE research and we are sensitive to the those families that are making strong efforts but coming up short with their survival budgets. At City Youth Matrix, we help break down barriers to give low income ALICE children and families opportunities. We remove the barriers of income, transportation and access that prevent children from participating in activities. We invest in training family liaisons, engaging parents and inspiring volunteers as part of our matrix of support.

Be A Hero; Help Us Help the Kids! When I was a teenager, I came home from school to find police in the house. They were there to arrest my dad who was missing. My mother was devastated; my sister was not talking; and I was confused, sad, worried, and overwhelmed. My Dad was in deep trouble and ultimately incarcerated for several years. His mistake became my daily reality. Monthly I would take a bus, two trains and a long walk to visit him. Guards closely monitored every visitor. There were gates, detectors, and pat downs, all of it humiliating and emotionally painful. At home there were financial worries, and social disgrace. I struggled with constant worrying, loneliness and sadness. No one was to know, so I hid that painful secret. My dad's mistake infected every part of my life. It was like my own separate sentence. I resolved back then that one day I would start an organization whose purpose was to help kids like me find a way to be resilient -- like I was. Twenty years ago I did just that. Now, almost 60 years after my experience, COIPP is helping many children and their families. Last year alone we assisted over 1,050 children and their family members. Every donation counts. From $15 for a children's book to $500 for a scholarship to Frederick Community College, your donation will be put to good use! "A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees." Mister Rogers Please, help us help the children. You will be growing new trees!

Provide an entry point to hands-on, professional experiences for pre-teens, teens, and young adults entering threatre professions and boost our local economy. Participants in MET's Youth Ensembles and Apprenticeship Program seek practical experience/ training to develop their skills and knowledge in the areas of production, acting, technical work, directing, stage management, and more. Without early opportunities available to students of all backgrounds and experiences, students who come from ALICE (Asset Limited, Income-Constrained, Employed) households may not have professionally crucial work experiences that give them a foot in the door to a successful career in the arts & entertainment industry. This in turn, causes further inequity across the sector, which stifles creativity and halts our community’s overall economic sustainability and growth. Maryland's creative sector now accounts for more than $11.7 billion of the state's economy, and contributes almost 80,000 jobs. In order to sustain and grow our economy, we must cultivate and steward the next generation of arts professionals, and that starts right here at Maryland Ensemble Theatre. With your support, we can provide practical hands-on work experience and education that empowers students to become the young professionals they aspire to become. MET is a professional, collaborative theatre ensemble broadly connected to our community by inspiring passion for the arts with courageous, relevant, accessible programs that enable people to feel more, think deeper, and laugh longer. MET strives to create a positive environment where artists and audience share an exciting, emotional, thought provoking theatre experience. MET features an eclectic season of plays that challenge audiences. Through open communication and life long learning, the MET ensemble brings a commitment to excellence that helps shape our region by initiating creative dialogue between artists and audience; providing outreach to under served communities; and training, education, and professional development opportunities to students of theatre that will propagate MET artistic values into the American Theatre. MET is dedicated to creating anti-oppressive artistic spaces and producing work that is representative of, affirming, and accessible to our entire community.
