I’m fortunate enough to have two sweet pups who are everything great about adopting a shelter pup—they are sweet, giving, smart, and always up for adventure! Since last July, I’ve been walking dogs regularly at APS and it has been incredibly rewarding to spend time with such special animals as they await their forever homes. Since I started volunteering at the Durham APS in August 2023, I have spent over 60 hours walking dogs, teaching tricks, giving treats, petting cats, & cleaning kennels for animals in Durham waiting for their forever home. Our dogs Captain & Gilly both came to us from the Durham APS; after Gilly sadly died much too soon in June 2023, I started volunteering in her memory. I've seen firsthand how their home lives & those of so many other pets were only made possible by the hours & dollars donated by people who love animals.This Saturday is the Durham APS's largest annual fundraiser, Walk for the Animals. Captain & I will be there, me in my volunteer t-shirt & him in his APS Alumni bandana!
