The Amazing Bronx River Flotilla - May 6, 2023!

    $0 Total Raised

    $70,000 Goal

    What is the Flotilla?

Our Annual Amazing Bronx River Flotilla is a fundraising event that helps kick-off our paddling season. We bring out over one hundred people to canoe 4-miles of the river and raise critical funds to keep our river accessible to over 1,000 Bronx children and families. We also sponsor a community festival at the end location at River House in Starlight Park, with music, dance and lots of fun activities!

How does it work? A designated captain will form a team of 6 people (in 3 canoes) to paddle 4-miles down the Bronx River. Everyone will need to pay a $50 registration fee and commit to fundraising $350, for a total of $400 per person or $2,400 per team.

Paddlers need to register in advance, so we can keep track of who is coming. Your team captain will create the team and reach out to our Development Coordinator, Mailah Medina at [email protected] to share their names.

Individual spots are also available, please contact Mailah Medina to help you find a team.

    The Amazing Paddle Details!

On Saturday, May 6, 2023 (rain date: May 20), you'll get a chance to paddle through the only freshwater river in all of New York City. Paddling will start at Shoelace Park through the New York Botanical Garden, the Bronx Zoo, and get a close look at the fish ladder at the 182nd Street dam! We will end at Starlight Park with a gathering at our headquarters, River House (Note: We will offer on-site support when possible, but please be ready to carry or wheel your canoe with your partner at these portage sites.)

We provide your teams with all the necessary equipment: a canoe, paddles, and life vests. To sign up for this event you must be 18 years of age. All participants will receive a T-shirt and goody bag at the end of their trip. There will also be fun prizes for the top fundraising teams and individuals!

Spots are limited for the 4-mile paddle. The time is now! Form your team, come up with an exciting team name, choose your designated captain, and start raising funds before it's too late! You will have until April 13th to finalize your team. Your support will make canoeing on the Bronx River accessible for thousands of New Yorkers to enjoy!
