Tribute to Neil
In honor of Neil, the Columbus Maharashtra Mandal has graciously partnered with Central Ohio Walk N' Roll to raise awareness for Ataxia and fundraise for the National Ataxia Foundation (NAF). Walk n’ Rolls bring together individuals, families, and communities to support our mission of accelerating treatments and improving the lives of those living with Ataxia.
Currently, there is no cure for Ataxia; treatment focuses only on managing symptoms. It was heartbreaking to witness our once physically active son become reliant on a wheelchair and struggle with daily activities, including his favorite pastime of playing with Legos. Sadly, his condition deteriorated more rapidly than we had hoped, eventually affecting his speech and making communication nearly impossible.
There are several clinical trials underway globally for various types of Ataxia, and we fervently hope that a treatment will be discovered soon. Witnessing a loved one suffer daily was deeply frustrating.
