Please share how you have been personally touched by cardiovascular disease and/or why you decided to dance in this year's event.

As a fourth-generation Long Beach native, I’ve accumulated enough memories of time spent within the sacred halls of Memorial (Long Beach) Medical Center to fill a dozen scrap books.  From the triumphant c-section birth of our twins in 2009 to dad’s heartbreaking but peaceful passing just two years ago, these intimate reflections always took place within the same protective yoke of familiar surroundings, familiar faces, and a small-town sense of community.

That is exactly why I knew my dad was in good hands back in 2000 with MemorialCare’s Heart & Vascular Institute when chest pain just prior to an ocean voyage turned into quadruple by-pass surgery.   This complicated, death-defying procedure was not only successful, but it also propelled Bob, Sr. to another 18 years of living, laughing, sailing, golfing, and joke-telling.  And as for the extra time, he would ultimately spend doting on nine grandchildren-to-come?   Trust me, I’d dance with WOLVES to show my gratitude!

About the Event

MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center Foundation’s annual gala - Dancing for Our Stars (DFOS) - has become one of the hottest philanthropic events in Long Beach.

The DFOS “The Beat Goes On” Gala is rescheduled to take place on February 26, 2022 at Hyatt Regency Long Beach and will benefit MemorialCare Heart & Vascular Institute. The event will feature dancers from the community who either have been personally touched by heart disease or wish to support leading-edge heart and vascular care in our community.  Each dancer will partner with a professional dancer or significant other to choreograph and perform an original dance to an upbeat, popular song from their favorite era.  Attendees will have an opportunity to support their favorite dancer(s) by “voting with their dollars” before and during the event as dancers vie for the coveted DFOS Champion Crystal Award.

Tickets are on sale now and sponsorship/underwriting/program advertising opportunities are also available. Additionally, all previously purchased sponsorships, ads, and tickets have automatically transferred to this rescheduled event. We look forward to celebrating this fun and memorable evening with you!
