    A Message from Brian's Family:

    Friends and Family,

We are humbled by the outpouring of support you've shown for Brian. Today 80 people came together to run/walk with the Musto Team in the Royals 5.06k for the University's Day of Giving and we've raised nearly $5,000 this weekend alone. Last year we raised enough to endow Brian's Fund, ensuring that his memory would live on forever at Scranton. We're excited to announce that this fall, The Brian Musto '12 Memorial Fund will be awarded for the first time to students battling illnesses. That's why we want to continue growing the fund to impact as many students as possible. If we reach $12,000 in honor of Brian's class year, we'll contribute an additional $10,000.

Again, we thank you so much for your support. We're excited to give back to Scranton students in Brian's memory.

    All Our Love,
    Maria Melgarejo '12, Alice Musto '84, Gerald Musto P '10, '12, '16, '20, Kevin Musto '10, Chris Musto '16 & Kate Musto '20

Brian Musto, a graduate of the University of Scranton lost his battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in January 2018. Brian's family has set-up a fund at the University of Scranton in Brian's name. The Brian Musto '12 Memorial Fund will help offset Scranton students' education costs who are battling illness. Thank you for your support!

    About Brian

Brian Musto '12 was a 24 –year-old student at Cornell Law School when he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Patients diagnosed in their twenties are affected right when their whole life is in front of them. Brian used to wonder why he got sick at this time, when he was “so close to getting started with [his life that he could] see the starting line”. After courageously fighting Hodgkin’s for four years, Brian lost his battle in January, but not before achieving some milestones. During these four years, he graduated with honors from Cornell and married the love of his life, Maria.

    About the Fund

The Musto family was fortunate to be able to help support Brian during his battle, but we know not all patients can say the same. That is why we are establishing this fund in Brian’s name at his alma mater, The University of Scranton. Money raised will be used to help undergraduate and graduate students with expenses incurred with illness. Patients in this age bracket often are too old to receive help from pediatric organizations, and too young to be completely financially independent.

Our goal is to help students with expenses from travel for treatments to books for the semester. These costs add up quickly, and patients often cannot work while fighting health issues. As a Presidential scholar who was also part of the Business Leadership Honors Program, education was very important to Brian. We know he'd like to help other students going through similar struggles achieve their goals.
