Support Habitat LA's Development in Lancaster, California
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA’s) Lancaster development is the site of eight new homes in the
Lancaster community. These beautiful 1-story homes will have attached 2-car garages, as well as drought tolerant landscaping, electric car charging ports, energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, low-flow plumbing fixtures, and solar panels, all of which will reduce homeowners’ utility expenses.
The property for this development was acquired through a partnership with the City of Lancaster. Habitat LA donors will contribute the funds and in-kind products and services needed to build the homes. We will begin construction on three of the homes in October 2023 as part of Habitat LA's Home Builders Blitz, in which the homes will be completed at an accelerated schedule of two weeks. Our partner homebuyers will invest hundreds of hours of their own labor, working side by side with community volunteers to build their new homes. As part of the home-buying process, the homebuyers will complete a robust homeownership counseling curriculum, contribute a modest down payment and pay an affordable monthly mortgage.
