My name is Delorean Ostrom. I am a chef, husband, and proud father. I was fortunate to be able to connect with the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation after my wife was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) during what we thought would be a routine gallbladder removal in December 2019. We found out that my 33-year-old wife, Mandy, had cancer while she was 15 weeks pregnant with our youngest. To say that those were some of the worst days of my life is an understatement. We were terrified, worried, and felt completely lost. The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation was a beacon of light and hope during those darkest times. With their help, guidance, and information, we were able to navigate the next few critical months to obtain her coveted NED card. Unfortunately, her cancer has since come back twice. She has had many more procedures, surgeries, chemo combinations, and complications. She continues to and will always fight!
I vowed to not only raise awareness for the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, but I also want to raise funds as well. I want to do anything possible to make it so that future families and patients do not have to experience the same terror and pain that we have experienced. In 2022, I ran a marathon a month to help raise awareness with a fundraiser called Racing for Hope. While I enjoy running occasionally, my real passion is cooking. I have been involved with the culinary world since I was 15 years old. I now have 22 years of experience and a stent at the Art Institute of Atlanta under my belt. I have been the head chef of two restaurants in the Atlanta area. I now cater a private school’s lunch program and own/operate my own food truck and catering business called Southern Grace. I am excited to be able to offer cooking classes! For the price of the class, you will get the recipe and a live instructional video where you will be able to ask as many questions as you like. My wife, Mandy, will also be present as much as possible to answer any patient-related questions as she can. I am looking forward to meeting new people and teaching everyone to cook!
