Julie Staples Annual Bile Duct Cancer Fundraiser

$0 Total Raised

My name is Clinton Staples, and I was lucky enough to be Julie’s husband for 7 years. I am hosting this event with the help of some of Julie’s family and closest friends. Julie was a nurse for several years at Duke University Hospital. She was a true caregiver. She loved what she did and was actually about to finish her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from UNC Wilmington. She struggled with a hurting right femur and fatigue for maybe 6 months until she had an x-ray that showed she had a lesion on the femur bone above the knee. Our lives quickly changed, and she fought with everything she had to live. She was diagnosed a couple of weeks later with cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). Her faith in Christ and her ability to pursue happiness through this cancer battle was amazing. Throughout her cancer battle, her attitude never changed. She didn’t like to be held back or guarded from anything. If she felt good, she was on the go.  She always thought of others, even during this trial in her life. Her growth in scripture and the closeness to God were prevalent.

We, as a family, were so blessed by everyone around us during this time in our lives.  Julie would want to find a way to help others with this terrible cancer.  Myself and others feel that if we can raise money for the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, it will hopefully make an impact on others that have gotten this type of cancer.  All in Julie’s honor.

Therefore, we are donating 100% of the proceeds of this event to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation. The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation’s (CCF) mission is to find a cure and improve the quality of life for those affected by cholangiocarcinoma. Cholangiocarcinoma is a very rare and deadly cancer with few effective treatment options. 10,000 people are diagnosed globally with this devastating disease. CCF is the leading global resource for cholangiocarcinoma research, education, support, and awareness and is the only US organization dedicated solely to meeting the needs of this community. The Foundation’s work is made possible through generous donations from caring individuals like you, who share our dedication to finding a cure for cholangiocarcinoma.
