Shelbie Monet Wilson aka Shelbie Bank$
Approachable, affable, charismatic, funny, intelligent, kind, hard-working, and sympathetic are just a few attributes that describe my Shelbie. Shelbie had a love for music, dance, and cheerleading in her adolescent years. She also discovered a "new love" which was volleyball and became one of the most dominating players on her teams (Club and in school). While in elementary, junior, and high school, Shelbie was an outstanding honor student. In high school, she was awarded the Outstanding Leadership Award at Langham Creek High School and a scholarship to the University of Maryland for Volleyball. She also volunteered and worked as a mentor with Special Needs kids. Every year I would receive a note from teachers on how Shelbie was a model student and how she would willingly help her fellow classmates with their lessons if needed. At the age of eight years old, Shelbie decided to give her life to Christ and was baptized at the Church Without Walls under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Ralph West of Houston, Texas. Her finesse and loving personality were so contagious, she was admired by all she encountered.
On October 1, 2020, Shelbie became the proud mother of a beautiful gift, a baby girl named Harper Leia Brady. Harper was the love of Shelbie’s life and she was so happy that she accomplished something that a lot of young women desire to be - a “mother”. I remember while Shelbie was pregnant, she asked me, “Mom do you think I will be a good mother?” and my reply was, “you will be a great mother”. She looked at me with a sigh of relief and confirmation that motherhood would be something that she would successfully achieve.
My deepest desire and greatest hope is that Shelbie’s legacy will live on through her family and most importantly, Harper. She will forever be remembered for her passion, quick wit, infectious smile, and generosity.
Unfortunately, Shelbie's life was cut too short by cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). Cholangiocarcinoma is a very rare and deadly cancer with few effective treatment options. 10,000 people are diagnosed globally with this devastating disease.
The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation’s (CCF) mission is to find a cure and improve the quality of life for those affected by cholangiocarcinoma. CCF is the leading global resource for cholangiocarcinoma research, education, support, and awareness and is the only US organization dedicated solely to meeting the needs of this community. The Foundation’s work is made possible through generous donations from caring individuals like you, who share our dedication to finding a cure for cholangiocarcinoma.
It is my hope that we can raise money to honor Shelbie's memory and to support the work of the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation and find a cure for this cancer. Together we can save lives.
Join us on Saturday, May 13th, from 3-5 PM at Southside Sporting Club located at 11110 W Airport Blvd Stafford, TX 77477, for an afternoon of togetherness as we gather to honor Shelbie and her love of fashion and raise money in support of cholangiocarcinoma research and awareness efforts.
Thank you for your interest and for taking the time to read this. I am grateful for the support of friends like YOU.
With love and hope for a cure,
Shelbie's mom, Michelle
