Summits for Cindy

$0 Total Raised

$5,280 Goal

On the evening of June 22, 1999, I received a call from my mother, Cynthia, that would change my life forever. She informed me that she was diagnosed with liver cancer.  Less than a week later, she was admitted to the hospital and never saw the outside world again.  During that time, my family and I learned that she had a diagnosis of Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare cancer of the bile ducts.  Little was known about this form of cancer at the time.  Not easily detectable and aggressive in nature, my mother’s battle was brief as she passed away 15 days later, on July 7, 1999.  25 years have passed, but I still remember each day I sat by her side until her final breath.

My goal in raising money for the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation is to provide advocacy for patients and their families.

Event details:

Thursday/Friday (weather depending) August 15/16-August 18

To honor my mother’s memory, I’ll be hiking  “Summits for Cindy” which will consist of the Pemigewasset Loop, also known as the “Pemi-Loop’ in the White Mountain National Forest.  The hike is 31.5 miles, with over 9,000 feet of elevation gain, and spans 15 mountains over 4,000 feet in prominence.

Ways you can help:

  • Donate to my hike. You can sponsor me per mile or give a flat donation. Any amount that can go towards advocacy is appreciated.
  • Share my page and my mom’s story. I’ve learned of some who have had loved ones impacted by Cholangiocarcinoma, but there are so many who have not.  Increasing awareness is a step in the right direction.
  • Are you a hiker? Join me for part of the hike!

Thank you in advance for your support.

Eric

About the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation:

The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation’s (CCF) mission is to find a cure and improve the quality of life for those affected by cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). Cholangiocarcinoma is an aggressive, lethal cancer that occurs in the liver within the bile ducts. Approximately 10,000 Americans are diagnosed annually, and the diagnosis rate continues to rise. CCF is the leading global resource for cholangiocarcinoma research, education, support, and awareness and is the only US organization dedicated solely to meeting the needs of this community. The Foundation’s work is made possible through generous donations from caring individuals like you, who share our dedication to finding a cure for cholangiocarcinoma.
