About Bottomless Closet
For more than 20 years, we have helped empower disadvantaged New York City women in need to enter the workforce and achieve success. Through providing personalized job seeking and career readiness programs, we ensure each woman has the tools she needs to get back on her feet.
Our visionary founders couldn’t have predicted the extraordinary circumstances New York City’s women are now facing. Yet we find ourselves at a moment in history where we can uniquely fulfill their original vision – to connect women and work – in new, revolutionary ways. Bottomless Closet is uniquely placed to help New York City’s unemployed women get back to work, get our economy going again and get families the safety and security they so desperately need.
At Bottomless Closet, since we temporarily suspended our in-person client services, we have been working tirelessly to connect with clients via phone and email, to support them with remote programming, vital COVID-19 related resources and most importantly, to let them know they are not alone. We are providing 1:1 remote client coaching and interview/resume prep; virtual client town halls; and online workshops with topics such as “Critical Financial Advice in the face of COVID-19”.
From our grassroots beginnings, we have grown into an organization that has served over 40,000 women in need; amassed nearly 200 dedicated volunteers and 150 referral partners. Last year alone, we provided services to over 3,500 women, 58% of whom were hired right away with 98% citing Bottomless Closet as the key reason for their success.
The challenges our clients are facing are unprecedented – 62% have been laid off as a result of COVID-19 and 67% have no savings to fall back on. We remain more committed than ever before to be there for the women who need us, now and beyond this pandemic when they will need to get back to work. We hope we can count on you too.
