Chadron State Social Work Conference
On November 8th, 2023 the 2024 class of the social work professional program will be putting on the annual social work conference. This year’s them is H.O.P.E - Helping Overcome Poverty and Elimination. Our class includes Minh Le Duc, Ashley Gonzalez Rodriguez, Makayla Keck, Nicole Scarrow, and Madison Watt.
The 2024 class would love to see you there and would like to ask for your support in helping to provide funds to cover the cost of logistical items including meals, and any remaining materials essential to the conference.
This conference gives our class the chance to make an impact on both our community and our students. With the conference, our goal is to help others understand the struggles of poverty. This year, we'll feature talks about generational poverty and the difficulty in breaking the cycle, how community members work and help individuals in poverty, and tips and tools to help get and stay out of poverty.
The all-day conference will also feature a poverty simulator. This simulator ihelps individuals understand the true struggles of those experiencing poverty. This interactive simulator puts them in a month-long scenario where they must make tough decisions that people in poverty face daily. Its goal is to have others truly see that poverty is not a choice but a hardship and a constant struggle no matter how hard they try to get out of their situation.
