Exciting things are always happening at the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center, but this year is shaping up to become one of the most energizing in our history. In 2023, we’re celebrating 75 years of steadfast service to the community, especially its vulnerable children who continue to find in the CYC a safe, secure home away from home. We hope you will celebrate this milestone anniversary with us by supporting a meaningful – and eye-popping – project we have launched to ensure the continued expansion of our innovative programming and important core services and to help replace the HVAC system in our aquatics center.
Our first 75th-anniversary endeavor is the creation of a visually stunning “CYC Hall of Fame Basketball Wall” in our main gymnasium, a project we are undertaking in conjunction with the fourth annual NEPA Gives 24-hour charitable challenge, set for June 1-2 this year. The Diocese of Scranton has chosen the theme “Let’s Build Something Together” to ask donors to help construct a solid future for their favorite diocesan causes, and we hope we’re correct in saying the CYC is one of yours. We invite you to affirm that by making a NEPA Gives gift this year and allowing us, in turn, to recognize you on the HOF wall. This artistic wall will consist of engraved basketball plaques with the names of all donors to our anniversary campaign. Those who can commit in conjunction with and in time for NEPA Gives will be the pillars of this wall plus can double their gifts by helping us compete for and earn the significant bonus dollars offered by our area’s charitable foundations as part of NEPA Gives.
Three donor recognition pieces will be available: a wooden basketball for a $75 donation, a silver basketball for a $150 donation, or a gold basketball for a $250 donation. We invite you to stand publicly among our proud and loyal CYC family of supporters by making a donation at one of these levels. We’ll display your name on the virtual donor wall on the CYC’s NEPA Gives page throughout the 24-hour challenge, then your signature basketball will be placed on the wall, where it will remain for years to come as a testament to your selfless partnership.
Our 75-year legacy could not have been built without generous friends like you, and we hope we can count on you once more to make this first-of-its-kind anniversary project wildly successful.
