Wayne Mahood served on the teacher education faculty from 1969-1994, teaching and mentoring students and sharing his passion for education was paramount. He was known for the level of care and interest he took in all of his students, many of whom went on to enjoy successful careers in education extending his influence to thousands of New York's children. Mahood demonstrated a lifelong passion for SUNY Geneseo that extended well beyond his retirement. Wayne co-authored the definitive history of the college, SUNY Geneseo: From Normal School to Public Ivy, 1871-2007.
The Dr. Richard Wayne Mahood Scholarship Endowment honors the teaching career of Distinguished Service Professor of Education Wayne Mahood by providing financial support for juniors or seniors at SUNY Geneseo to continue their degree in Adolescence Education in the area of Social Studies/History.
