Moravian University

When I think about Moravian University and its history dating back to 1742, the word that comes to my mind is sustainability. From its humble beginnings, our cherished Moravian has been a part of Bethlehem since the very beginning. With the help of Prof. Frank Kuschard, The Greenhound Fund was established to help pay for projects that will reduce the school’s environmental impact, reduce operating expenses, and help sustain the facilities for another 279 years. Please join me in supporting The Greenhound Fund by making a gift today.

The Greenhound Fund is a revolving loan sustainability fund that provides a method for funding campus-based projects that advance operational efficiency and reduce the University’s environmental impact. The Greenhound Fund promotes hands-on educational opportunities and collaboration across the campus community. Dollars are drawn from the fund to pay for campus projects designed to have a positive impact on the environment as well as the University’s budget, and the savings accumulated over time pay back the money spent.

Among the numerous projects completed, one of the most successful was updating the outside lighting around the Main Street campus.  This  project paid itself back in three years and, more importantly, saved the University approximately $13,000 a year in energy costs. Additionally, the lighting in Johnston Hall was redone, and much like the outside lighting project, the costs were repaid very quickly to the University.

Your gifts will ensure that collaborative sustainability initiatives continue to thrive at Moravian - creating a greener future for all Hounds! A primary goal of the Greenhound Fund is to one day support replacing the remainder of the windows in Comenius Hall.

Gifts can also be made via check, payable to Moravian University with “Greenhound Fund” in the memo line.
