March of Dimes fights for the health of all moms and babies. We're advocating for policies to protect them. We're working to radically improve the health care they receive. We're pioneering research to find solutions. We're empowering families with programs, knowledge and tools to have healthier pregnancies. By uniting communities, we're building a brighter future for us all.
- Every three hours, a baby in Nebraska is born prematurely. Babies who are born too small, too soon, may die or suffer life-long health consequences.
- Each year, there are more than 410,000 premature births nationwide; there are more than 2,600 premature births in Nebraska.
- The cost associated with premature birth in the United States is approximately $26.2 billion each year.
- Women of color are twice as likely to have birth complications or die during birth due to our country's worsening health equity gap.
- For the 5th year in a row, the prematurity rate has risen, and the US continues to be one of the most dangerous countries to have a baby.
What your gift will do:
- More than 1,000 people were exposed to March of Dimes programs while in the NICU.
- More than 100 women will participate in the Supportive Pregnancy Care program in Hastings, NE.
- More than 100 nurses and other healthcare workers received educational materials at the Prematurity Summit and professional education seminars given by March of Dimes.
- 47 military moms and moms to be received important prenatal education and resources as well as baby shower gifts during the 2020 Mission Health Baby: Baby Shower.
- Thousands will use March of Dimes online support programs and utilize free information and resources on our website.
- $50 celebrates and educates moms-to-be in communities of need and provides them baby items like swaddles, breast pumps, baby thermometers and other essential items.
- $50 supports programs that include resources to help moms and moms-to-be quit smoking.
- $75 provides a newborn screening for a baby in a hospital through our advocacy work.
- $75 funds one hour of innovative prematurity research.
- $100 provides essential baby items such as a stroller or pack-n-play for women who complete a prenatal education program.

- NICU Family Support Specialist program provides emotional and educational support to families whose babies are in the NICU and to moms on bed rest at Nebraska Medicine and CHI Health CUMC Bergan Mercy Hospitals.
