The situation in Lebanon is devastating. Since the recent military escalation began, more than 1.2 million people in Lebanon have been forcibly displaced, and thousands of civilians have been killed and injured. Forced to flee the intense airstrikes, traumatized civilians are facing great personal loss and an increasingly dire humanitarian crisis, as supplies of food, clean water, shelter, and medical care become more limited by the day.

SAMS is working with partners to provide emergency medical care and humanitarian aid to injured and displaced civilians. 

• We are deploying 5 health and protection emergency mobile teams to displacement centers in the Bekaa area. Trained healthcare staff and volunteers are providing general medical care, mental health support, and patient referrals, while also distributing crucial hygiene kits to displaced individuals. As of October 9th, we have distributed at least 860 kits to those need. 

• We are launching 5 Maternity and Child Health Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) to provide health and protection services, while also distributing winterization kits to displaced families. 

• We are working with local hospitals to provide urgently needed medical care to women and children with specific trauma injuries.

• We are rushing medical equipment and supplies to where needed most, while also strengthening hospitals’ patient referral systems.
