Innovation for Impact
Innovation for Impact takes on ambitious global projects by collaborating beyond the walls of ND. We're currently impacting the lives of young women in Northern Uganda by designing the next generation of vocational education at Saint Bakhita's Vocational Training Center (SBVTIC) in Kalongo, Uganda.
The Students will have the opportunity to work closely with the students at the University of Notre Dame, and will collaborate closely with the community, to ultimately learn skills to launch business, create jobs, and create opportunities for a better future.
We are raising funds to support the work of the club, including helping to cover tuition costs for girls to begin school at Saint Bakhita’s as an “Innovation Scholar”. These Scholars will have the opportunity to learn a vocational skill (tailoring, hair dressing, agriculture, or catering), while also receiving foundational training in agroforestry, computers, financial management and entrepreneurship. For instance, $50 could supply a girl with school supplies for one year. $260 could pay for one girls school tuition for a year. $5,000 could provide these girls with a teacher an entire year.
"I have to shape the future...It's my duty." - Victoria Nyanjura, the new head of SBVTC who also holds a masters degree of Global Affairs from Notre Dame
